BioMedomics, Inc. (Morrisville, NC, USA) has developed and launched one of the worlds first rapid point-of-care lateral flow immunoassays for the diagnosis of coronavirus infection. The new rapid IgM-IgG combined antibody test for COVID-19 is used to qualitatively detect IgG and IgM antibodies of the novel coronavirus in human serum, plasma or whole blood in vitro. These proteins indicate that a persons immune system has responded to infection with the COVID-19 virus. It is one of the worlds first rapid tests for coronavirus utilizing this technology.
Recent studies suggest that a high percentage of patients show no clinical symptoms of the virus, which makes screening patients vitally important. The test can be used for rapid screening of carriers of the virus that are symptomatic or asymptomatic. By using biomarkers from the bodys immune response to COVID-19 instead of looking for the virus itself, the test can help determine if a person has been infected with COVID-19 even after the virus is no longer present. This information helps experts to better understand how the virus spreads through populations and develop strategies to prevent and slow the epidemic. The test is ideally suited for hospitals, clinics and test laboratories, and can also be effectively deployed in businesses, schools, airports, seaports and train stations, etc.
BioMedomics new rapid IgM-IgG combined antibody test for COVID-19 has been used widely by the Chinese CDC to combat infections and is now available globally. BioMedomics has also received CE Mark-IVD certification for the test which will allow it to be used to help diagnose patients in areas of Europe that have been impacted by the appearance of the COVID-19 pathogen.
We are very proud to help fight this global epidemic, said Dr. Frank Wang, CEO of BioMedomics. Our team has been working hard to make this test a reality in the hope that it can help millions of people around the world by providing health experts with the information that they need to help treat and contain this new virus.

How rapid is rapid? Time-frame should be in first paragraph.
This is a test to see if one used to have the virus and is now recovered. It tests the antibodies that were created during infection.
This test is used in China, South Korea and Japan, yet the FDA won’t approve it.It can be purchased over the counter.
Heads need to roll.
The test uses a single finger prick and if the blood contains COVID-19 antibodies, it shows that you have the virus , or that you had it and recovered.Works like a 15 minute pregnancy test.
This test is one of the reasons that S. Korea did well, but here in the USA, governments do noit want their system to be “overwhelmed.”, a primary goal.We can’t have the peasants testing themselves!
We need a huge fire lit under the FDA and the CDC, and Presidenmt Trump needs to kick some ass.
If this was available over the counter...BIG HELP.
15 minutes.
People who’ve been there, done that, got the t-shirt could get back to work!
It also tests if you have it and are a symptomatic...A BIG PLUS

It does test for current (and past) infections. The antibodies are present during infection.
THAT’S RIGHT.
IT SHOULD BE SOLD OVER THE COUNTER.
( excuse my yelling !)
Not a problem. People have to know they HAVE to self quarantine.
Well, it will also tell you if you have the virus, and then you can get the other test to see if you are still carrying the virus.
The purpose of the test is looking for levels of antibodies in IgM and IgG.
IgM positives mean the person had the virus and recovered a short time ago (usually within a week).
IgG positives mean the person had the virus and recovered a longer time ago.
This is an antibody test - not a test to check for first infection.
finger stick?
not sure if that’s accurate.
Once someone has been exposed to the virus, the body will begin making antibodies, within a relatively short period of time in varying levels depending upon one’s immune response.
The person may be recently exposed and not ill yet, exposed and already symptomatic, or recovered.
I went to the site, and they had another link to how Isreal is “pooling” samples for rapid testing.
In short: You take 20-50 of your samples, you take parts of every one of them, mix together, and run the test. Negative means nobody had it, positive you have to run the tests individually.
For sampling large populations, this could allow 1000 tests to test up to 64,000 samples. (they showed positive results combining up to 64 samples).
Imagine if we could send the already-recovered people back to work.
Big problem is that people will start to realize that 90% have had it and got over it and that we didn’t have to destroy the economy, jobs, and liberty that the Democrats are blackmailing the President and Senate with for more “fundamental change” to America as we know it.
With the right social media populations could do easy math to see what the real rate of hospitalization and risk of death per infected person and per whole state, country is - very small comparatively speaking.
