As Andrew Cuomo ascends during coronavirus pandemic, Joe Biden fades
The Chicago Tribune ^ | March 27, 2020 | John Kass

Cuomo is on national television daily, giving his coronavirus briefings, presenting as a man of action and sympathy, fighting for his city and state that are being overwhelmed by the virus. He looks like a president.

And old Joe? Biden, the expected Democratic presidential nominee, remains lost, hapless, eclipsed and marginalized by events.

Biden has all but disappeared, like the time you were at the supermarket with your elderly uncle, and he wandered off, again. Frantic, you searched all the aisles until you finally found him asking the lady giving out samples for another taste of banana pudding.

“Biden is a melting ice cube,” wrote New York Democrat and antitrust litigator Lloyd Constantine on his blog, in a quote now widely circulated. “Those of us who have closely watched as time ravaged the once sharp or even brilliant minds of loved ones and colleagues, recognize what is happening to the good soldier Joe.”

Two weeks ago, Democrats were insisting he wasn’t as feeble as he seems, that he was not suffering from a lack of mental acuity, that Biden was the strong leader who would win the White House for Democrats and hand them the awesome imperial power over our lives.

But things are different now. Biden fades, and Cuomo is ascendant.

Spending the state into billions of debt while telling conservatives to get the hell out.

True, and more, Cuomo has lost businesses and the flight
of New Yorkers to Texas and Florida is almost as bad as California.

Cuomo has another problem, his personality. He ain’t telegenic, his voice is annoying and he isn’t even as likable as Joe or Bernie.

Trump will eat him up.

Bernie has not given up. His impassioned speech in the Senate where he spoke against the Republicans fight to keep low income workers from possibly getting more than their usual pay for up to four months was very emotionally persuasive, especially to his constituents.

I didn't hear the speech, but I don't doubt that he scored points with his constituents. But a speech that appeals to his followers isn't going to get him the nomination from the powers that be in the party.

My only point was that the Democratic Party was desperate to stop Bernie's momentum, and Biden was the man who filled that role. Now that it's becoming clear that Slow Joe isn't up to the job, they have to find someone else. But you'll see that everyone who comes up for discussion is someone other than Bernie Sanders.

I was making a general point about how Tulsi would have been a more formidable opponent for Trump. If the explanation seems contradictory to you than so be it. It’s the Dems loss...and that’s good for us!

Not contradictory to me at all. I was just pointing out you made an excellent case why they wouldn’t choose her. I think your point that HRC hates her is probably the strongest one. Despite the fact she is a terrible loser, for some reason HRC still wields a LOT of power.

I never understood why the old guard democrats have had it in for Gabbard.
Maybe just the fossils in the party hanging on to power with every ounce of energy left in their fossilized carcasses.

Unlike Biden she can string together two comprehensible sentences, doesn’t disappear in a crowd and uses expressions people have heard of.
Right Joe? You lying dog faced pony soldier.
She also doesn’t have pedo Joe’s penchant of groping underage girls and she’s never been in a lip lock with her dad or grandpa. That we know of.

She is a calmer, saner sounding revolutionary than the hair flying, finger wagging, Bolshevik hunchback of Vermont, Buhknee Sanduhs.

Much younger than Princess Grey Beaver she actually has minority status of her own. A half Samoan Hindu that lives in Hawaii beats a 1/1024th Connecticut Cherokee every day.
Added bonus that she doesn’t sound like every screeching ex-wife in the world.
Add in her service in the Hawaii National Guard and she ticks off another box.

Although her sexual preferences are unknown she doesn’t have a same sex spousal dead weight like Pete Buttgigger. If she is lesbian she at least has the common sense to keep her significant other out of sight, unlike Peter Puffer who made a point of publicly kissing his “husband” at every opportunity.

Tulsi has more personality in one finger of one hand than the utterly vanilla Klobuchar. AK isn’t French vanilla, vanilla bean vanilla or anything other than boring old-fashioned vanilla.

If the DNC had any sense they would be grooming Gabbard for the presidency. Instead they are doing everything possible to marginalize her.

Too radically left to change parties without completely changing 95% of her positions Gabbard is stuck in a diminished position in her party.
I personally hope Tulsi gets marginalized to death, to the point of no return.
This chick could be scary.

If a governor or mayor briefs everyday they can make a lot of political statements and get hundreds of hours of free camera time.

For sure the party leaders do not want Bernie. His continuing to fight until the end will, hopefully, lead to his supporters staying home in November. That will be good for Republicans down ballot.

Bingo! With every last breath these aging hippies want to see the revolution happen or take the country to the grave with them.

Meanwhile people are speculating about a running mate for Biden assuming he gets the nomination. HotAir lists “Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar”. Newsweak says Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez Masto among others.

The likes of Warren? A shrill harridan who bombed in the primaries, finishing third in her home state? Even Democrats couldn’t stomach her. If Biden somehow wins and then either dies or has to step down... (”I’m an old guy,” he admitted during the Iowa caucuses, and a veep needs to be ready on Day 1 in that eventuality...)

Also yeah Warren would ensure he gets that crucial swing state of Massachusetts... (/sarcasm...)

She’s on the attractive side. They know attractive RATs don’t exist; they simply don’t trust that she’s RAT.

It would be interesting to compare the number of “Sanctuary Cities and States” against the data on high numbers Wuhan virus reported cases and deaths.

They seem to think that Biden might not be able(or even be dead) by the time of the convention so they are promoting Cuomo for the nomination. That is the only thing I can think of that is behind the Cuomo buzz.
