The Treasury announced late Wednesday that Social Security beneficiaries who typically do not file a tax return will automatically get the $1,200 payment.
The announcement is a reversal from earlier in the week when the Internal Revenue Service said everyone would need to file some sort of tax return in order to qualify for the payments. Democrats and some Republicans criticized the IRS for requiring so many extra hurdles for this vulnerable population to get aid when the government already has their information on file.
The reversal came as the Trump administration tries to rapidly get stimulus payments out to Americans in the face of the quickest economic decline in modern history.
“Social Security recipients who are not typically required to file a tax return need to take no action, and will receive their payment directly to their bank account,” said Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin.

they already have bank account numbers for SS recipients as a law passed in 2013 REQUIRES electronic deposits for SS payments ...
OK. This doesn’t make any sense to me. The day after they signed the big whopper, I read that all a SS recipient needed was to have received a SSA-1099 over the last two years.
This must just be a clarification, as I can’t see any change.

We both paid in for decades and want Our just Payments.
ALL THE DAMNED ILLEGALS CAN PISS OFF AND GO BACK WHERE THEY CAME FROM!!!
And We TRY to have “Date Night” once a month at Waffle House ($25.00 including a Tip) just to get out besides going to the Doctor, Grocery Store and Pharmacy.
As far as Christmas and Birthday Presents ONLY the Grandchildren get them.
What is new is the part for HOW those can receive their money IF the IRS does not have their bank account info. What is new is - soon there will be an update and portal for THOSE people.

the SS administration does have that info and will be giving it to the IRS IF you receive SS payments ... otherwise the IRS won’t have it unless you gave it to them for direct deposit of tax refunds ... that IRS said that website might take weeks to develop, so if you’re in a hurry for that money, you’d have to file a 2019 tax return and specify the direct deposit info on that, even if you owe no taxes and are not expecting a refund ...

Okey Dokey, things are starting to make sense to me now.

the change was that, until a few hours ago, the IRS unilaterally decided NOT to obey the law, and then Treasury Secretary Steve Munchin forced them to obey the law after a whole bunch of U.S. Senators raised hell a few hours ago ...
the IRS radically changed their tune and their website a few hours ago as well regarding this matter ...
This is true HOWEVER they will also be receiving $600.00 a week in unemployment benefits plus what they would normally receive in unemployment weekly!! Most people will be getting 900.00 a week in unemployment MORE than what they were making working!!!

For the people on SS they do not need to fill out the 1040 EZ form the treasury will be collecting the info from SS did you read the Treasury Secretary’s statement!, if someone is on SS the SS department has their information OR they would not be getting their SS money!{!
