Breitbart ^ | April 1, 2020 | John Binder

President Trump says he has committed to American farmers to continue admitting large numbers of H-2A foreign visa workers to take agricultural jobs, even as jobless claims are set to climb above 3.3 million in the midst of the Chinese coronavirus crisis.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, Trump suggested United States farms would not survive without a continuous flow of H-2A foreign visa workers who are brought to the country by farmers. There is no limit to how many H-2A foreign visa workers can be admitted to the U.S.

Watermelons would be $50 a piece, maybe even higher.

Let's see the economic analysis behind that $50. For starters, what percentage of the price of produce is due to the wages for harvesting it?

Yes , NY Wall Street con man Jared .
The guy who pushed out Bannon and Mika and all the
anti cheap labor crowd.
All we have are Cheap labor lobbyists as Cabinet members ,

Jared is the enemy who brought the Koches to the WH for dinner last year .

A smart Dem campaign could eat them alive.

We’re not going to have a country if we keep importing foreigners.

Well, there are all those illegals who could fill in. Use the folks who have already sneaked in, don’t allow any more from south of the border.

Back in the 1960’s and 1970’s the farms were in Ohio and other States and were moved to California to make use of the illegal aliens from Mexico.

We need to move those farms back to those States. Besides, California is having water shortages because of these farms.

You first.

I made no claim - YOU did. Get cracking ... or stand self-exposed as a lazy ignorant windbag.

You're the "what if" moron. Did you click your heels or wish upon a star?

You're wanting me to make your point? I never wrestle with a pig, either.

Never seen an H1 Indian field hand before.

Exactly. Nor are there any H1B spouses picking crabs in Maryland and Virginia.

During WWII the cash crop farms (since gone) in my county were tended by German POWs. When the boys came home, they wanted to start families and not work the family farms. This spelled the end to cash crops and canning here.

Although the idea of transgender studies majors picking tomatoes amuses me, it is not going to happen. Mechanization is reducing the need for pickers of many crops.

I've lived in Ohio. There are TONS of Mexican farm workers in Ohio. Northwest Ohio is the 2nd. largest tomato producing region in the country after California.

Lived in Michigan too where there were plenty. Best Mexican food I've ever had was from a little place about 20 min. from the Canadian border.

BUMP!!

Growing up, this is how High School kids made money for dates, cars, stereo’s, clothes and college.

Today, because of the illegal aliens, many High School kids simply CANNOT get these jobs, because they do not speak Spanish.

More of a slap will be that some of those farms will get low interest grant/loan from the COVID handout and then hire foreigners. Joy.

No, moron, that was \/\/ayne - who also didn't make a claim about the price of watermelons. YOU did ... and you are STILL pathetically squirming and wriggling to escape YOUR burden of proof for YOUR claim.

Trump knows that Biden or the Dems would never go against this- that’s why it’s a safe issue for him, no matter how angry this makes his base.

How many workers here to harvest tomatoes?
Try and keep up with changes.

Take a look on YouTube and see how modern farming is operating today, the old manual labor is being replaced with robots. You can even see completely robotic Apple harvesting. Lettuce along with root plants like carrots and potatoes a harvested by massive machines. Fascinating videos that show how little we know about the future of agriculture.

We need to readjust our whole economy to not having these workers at all.

But this month with these farms in this situation is not the time to do it. Let this be their last season here.
