Breitbart ^ | April 1, 2020 | John Binder

President Trump says he has committed to American farmers to continue admitting large numbers of H-2A foreign visa workers to take agricultural jobs, even as jobless claims are set to climb above 3.3 million in the midst of the Chinese coronavirus crisis.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, Trump suggested United States farms would not survive without a continuous flow of H-2A foreign visa workers who are brought to the country by farmers. There is no limit to how many H-2A foreign visa workers can be admitted to the U.S.

No one talks about it, but the vast majority of the jobs these migrants do could be replaced by machinery (some of which doesn’t yet exist, but could)

You would be amazed at how much of that equipment is already available.
Check out modern harvesting equipment on YouTube.

If you pay to do nothing, and more if you have a child, then you get more of it.

Yes, that’s the rumor. That he’ll have Lindsey Graham draw up the paperwork. He may have Hillary work on it with him.

I have read that a lot of this mechanical harvesting equipment was developed in Australia because they simply didn’t have a 3rd world country to exploit for farm labor.

Sometimes nations have to learn lessons the hard way.

What will we have learned?

Mechanization is reducing the need for pickers of many crops.

Mechanization has produced rubberized tomatoes.

LOL. The cost of labor per head of lettuce is $.25. Doubling labor raises the per head cost to .50/head. You globalist pigs scare tactic don't work. We are on to you.

I've already heard people say that we'll have food shortages this winter because of all the coronavirus disruptions, etc.

Buy more food?

Migrants have been coming from Mexico to Michigan since at least as the late-1950’s

Doesn't make it right.

I’d be happy to oay more for a salad then f I knew that the natives were harvesting it. Farmers have a wage problem disguised as a labor shortage.

If Trump would make a big deal out of killing H-1B and really touts it as an accomplishment for the Americans worker then he would never have to worry about this election. Goes for all Republicans.

That's a no brainer. Watermelons would be $50 a piece,maybe even higher.

You are an economic retard Sancho. The PER melon price is not the same as the PER hour cost of labor. Stick to stealing hubcaps and impregnating dogs you loser.

Amazing stuff. I have nothing but time on my hands and can spend the time to watch some of the stuff. There is a video of the construction of the worlds tallest bridge that boggles my mind. Railroads installed by a half dozen men, or mining machines that replace all the hand dug coal operations. Then for a change of pace I watch Mr. Chickadee who does amazing carpentry with absolutely no power tools.

Strawberries, tomatoes.

Don’t compare apples with oranges.

Yes, strawberry harvesters on on the way, but they aren’t here in 2020.
