The good news is that you will be immune to coronavirus; the bad news is that you will develop a three pack a day craving for unfiltered Chesterfields.

Time to bring back their old slogan...
“Lucky Strike Has Gone to War... against COVID-19.”
Seriously, if BAT’s Kentucky research arm can come up with a tobacco-based vaccine that works, then why the hell not?

I've heard that the tobacco plant is relatively easy to genetically engineer to produce various pharmaceuticals.

I would love to see Connecticut Valley Tobacco make a comeback. Had a friend who family grew shade grown tobacco. What a job - hard but fun! The leftist would hate that I touched tobacco at 10... by harvesting it.

No more ironic than marijuana being medically beneficial. There are many plants that have both harmful and beneficial effects.

I would love to see Connecticut Valley Tobacco make a comeback. Not many people realize that Connecticut is (was) a big state for tobacco production. I used to travel to Windsor, CT a lot for my job and I liked taking the back roads to see all the tobacco fields that were around there.
They call it "shade" tobacco.

Smoking cigarettes represents a risk factor for getting a severe Covid 19 infection. God gave us tobacco plants for some reason, but I doubt it was to smoke or otherwise develop nicotine addictions.

“Still smoking ½ to ¾ pack of Marlboros per day, after 53yrs. Doing my part... “
So was I, right up to the point I , out of the blue, suffered a stroke.
Let me tell ya, THAT will get your attention! The Hosp stay and rehab was just long enough to help me beat the nicotine addiction.
Notice I didn’t say ‘habit’, it’s a powerful addiction, not a habit.
It still was hard to beat, but it’s been almost exactly 5 years and it gets easier every day.

I have no proof - but I highly suspect that smoking was in vogue because it did kill respiratory viruses like this in communal areas.
