That Swine flu thing during 0bama we hardly heard word one on deaths and hysteria. 0bama golfed and the media thought how wonderful he’s not over reacting.

It looks to be about twice as contagious as the flu and more than 6 times as deadly, looking at the newest estimates.
First, your claim that 1 million died of the Hong Kong flu in 6 months, in Asian countries including Vietnam, is based on a newspaper article in the South China Morning Post. February 1968 was also when the Tet offensive was underway in Vietnam. I’m not sure how anyone was able to keep track of flu deaths in Vietnam at that time. Nor is it clear that anyone knows when the first case of Hong Kong flu occurred. But be patient, and we will see some very impressive results from this flu. There were 4,890 deaths yesterday so in 200 days - about 6 months - there’s your 1 million deaths. BTW the death rate is rising every day.

You can find the CDC date on the 2017-18 epidemic that was five times worse than the 2009 Swine epidemic that keeps being touted but it's being ignored............

It is now April.
That is a hell of a lot longer than “one month.”
SPECULATION:
It kicks off a very aggressive “cytokine storm”. The human body appears to really dislike this little bugger. When in lungs, x#timesx white blood cells are summoned to attack. The collection of WBCs (aka pus) fills the little airbags (alveoli) in the lungs and the patient goes into respiratory failure.
HCQ lessens the cytokine storm reaction.
Summary: ChiComVD-19 results in a pulmonary “auto-immune” disease.

However, I TOTALLY understand President Trump going in this direction, as in OVERKILL. He has not let me down, yet, and I don’t expect him to in this situation, either. :)

However - I am looking through the lens of only having 3 cases and NO deaths in my Cow Town County. AS of today, 31 have died so far in Wisconsin, and they were all old and/or infirm with preexisting/compromised conditions...just like any OTHER flu season!
I would probably have a different opinion of the whole thing if I were trapped like a RAT in NYC or CA or Washington State. :(
I think it’s because other viruses show their symptoms right away and you can avoid the cougher in the office or on the subway etc.
Covid-19 is apparently the stealth bomber of contagious diseases.
Indeed it may be a bioweapon, there was a paper that came out in Jan 2020 entitled “Uncanny similarity of unique inserts in the 2019-nCoV spike protein to HIV-1 gp120 and Gag” basically saying that there are 4 spikes with HIV-like proteins. The Institute of Virology in Wuhan has been playing with SARS and HIV. There is a 2010 article, from that lab, entitled “Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) proteins of different bat species confer variable susceptibility to SARS-CoV entry” saying “we extended our previous study to ACE2 molecules from seven additional bat species and tested their interactions with human SARS-CoV spike protein using both HIV-based pseudotype and live SARS-CoV infection assays.” Look for the article here:
