Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is getting pressure to close down the states gun stores, which have been allowed to remain open during the coronavirus pandemic when most other retailers have had to shut their doors.
Under a series of executive orders including a stay-at-home order issued Monday Hogan has gradually closed schools, sit-down restaurants, malls, theaters, gyms, casinos and businesses deemed nonessential in hopes of slowing the spread of the virus.
Gun shops and shooting ranges, however, made the cut as an essential business.
The ability of gun stores to remain open during this pandemic is worrisome for many Marylanders ... It is alarming to see Marylanders stockpiling weapons in such a state of emergency, dozens of Democratic state lawmakers wrote Thursday in a letter to the Republican governor.
Del. Vanessa Atterbeary, a Howard County Democrat who is vice chairwoman of the House of Delegates Judiciary Committee, spearheaded the letter. It was signed by 58 delegates and senators, all Democrats

'All Democrats'
They called it "Alarming"
Hard to say what someone would resort to if they didn't have any toilet paper,
Even after the NICS check it gets slow walked through the State Police. It’s probably up to 3 weeks now.
Maryland/Coronavirus ping !
We can always count on Dems here!
But out here in the red counties gun stores are defying his order and remain open for business.
Local LEO's support them unanimously.

I’d like this to go the Supreme Court.
If the state wants to shut down the Shoe store, or the Coffee Shop, that’s one thing. The Constitution does not provide protection for Shoes or Coffee.
The Second Amendment says the right shall not be infringed. We are seeing the government try to force the shut down of gun shops. I say no. I say it shouldn’t be tolerated. If the Supreme Court had any sense, they would agree. And that ought to open the door to ending all gun control.
The government doesn’t have the right.
Didn’t the mayor of Baltimore ask the gang bangers to stop killing each other and put crime on hold during the lock down?
That, right there, should be enough reason to rationalize closing down people searching for the means to protect their lives, right??
It’s not like it’s crime ridden area and they are about to throw open the doors of the prisons... Oh.. Right..
If you havent gotten yourself a weapon by now, what the hell are you waiting for? When the government says you dont need a gun...YOU NEED A GUN!
In fact I posted it here at that time.
Freepers really go a laugh at that one, laughing AT them of course
Just an excuse. Their intention is to take guns from non-violent citizens while deliberately leaving them in the hands of violent criminals.
All relatives of Chuck Schumer?
Remember Democrats when you’re in the voting booth. They keep child-killing Planned Parenthood operating but then smash your Second Amendment rights.
The RATS are the exact reason why so many are stocking up. Tell them that.
Didn’t the President declare gun stores essential, not that the Dems care?
take away their TP!
Gee, even after PDJT declared firearms and ammo as essential. Imagine that huh?
IMHO that’s the critical element in all of this. Will local LEO follow the dictatorial edicts or not. If not, the edicts are toothless.
If everyone ‘stays at home’ per the governors order we should all be safe, right?
It would be surprising any conservative that didn't get all guns and ammo they thought they might need thru the obama anti-gun threat years.
No, the recommended guidelines from the DHS was to label them essential, the states do what they want.
DHS guidelines advise states to let gun stores stay open amid coronavirus pandemic(Fox News)
I am sure Obama would do the same....
