Consider the Possibility That Trump Is Right About China
The Atlantic ^ | April 5, 2020 | Nadia Shadlow

Posted on 04/05/2020 6:41:17 PM PDT by CheshireTheCat

...Contrary to what critics argue, “America first” does not mean “America alone.” That Trump might be introducing needed correctives to the hyper-globalization pursued by earlier administrations is generating serious cognitive dissonance in some quarters. And the reality is that only one organization in the entire world has as its sole responsibility the American people’s safety. That institution is the U.S. government. Whether led by Republicans or Democrats—or by Donald Trump or anyone else—it should always put the American people first.

The subtitle is "Critics are letting their disdain for the president blind them to geopolitical realities."

I can't believe The Atlantic published this. Hope does really spring eternal. I wonder if NPR will discuss this idea this week. Knowing my co-workers listen to NPR faithfully, maybe I will turn it on to see, if I am frisky enough to do so. In a way, I wish we weren't all working from home now. Then I could quote NPR to them to make up for all of the times they chortle about the latest they heard on it.

When the Rat Party loses The Atlantic...they’ve lost America.

This may signal that the neo-con movement is about to change its position on China, up until now considered almost a taboo subject, favored with very lenient treatment by those who are willing to spend much blood and treasure to bring about useless regime changes elsewhere.

Nothing like the inconvenience of a global pandemic to wake up the neo-cons to the always present reality that China was always a bad actor and should have been the main subject of their disdain all along.

The Democrat party always puts the Mexican people first. Always. When they start wanting to build a wall on the border then I'll believe they're coming around to support our nation. Until then, f* the Democrats.

Interesting in the first lines. It's not globalism that's bad, it's 'hyper-globalization'. Sounds a lot like 'Communism is good, it just wasn't done right yet.'

eeeehhh yeah OK.

Demonrats, like all of us, must first learn to crawl before they can learn to walk.

Honestly, could an attack on just plain globalization get published in The Atlantic? I’ll take an attack on globalization to any degree as a small victory.

Yeah agreed, wasn't looking a gift horse in the mouth.

"Demonrats, like all of us, must first learn to crawl before they can learn to walk."

But the analogy doesn't hold because we are talking about snakes :-)

WwIII without a shot fired.

“Chinese” factories will be rapidly built in Mexico. They know how to deal with drug cartels.

The Neocons and other Globalists will simply embrace the humanitarian migrants from a closer, corrupt shiitehole to be enslaved onto their machines.

Africa will be another ChiCom province in 20 years. All the old basetard dictators and other corruptocrats will drop from WuHuFlu. Whats left gets paid off.

On my Caribbean cruise in Feb, I was surprised at the amount of Chinese presence there is down there. Cars, trucks, buses, etc. Plus lots of the commerce.

True for the ones who are snakes. But not for the ones who are rats. Rats can be trained, after all.

Common sense appeals to most people that's why Trump was elected. That the US Government should take care of Americans first is just so simple and true to even the not so bright Americans. Dems will lose.

You have more faith than I do ... it will be interesting to see how long some things last ... like the rats who suddenly discovered the 2nd amendment and bought guns.
