The first of these programs is the ever-chaotic Paycheck Protection Program, the $349 billion rescue effort that has commanded most of the public’s attention on this front. It provides businesses with low-interest loans to cover payroll and some other expenses like rent and utilities, which the government will forgive as long as the borrower doesn’t lay off its workers.

But even though businesses have been applying for these grants for more than a week, there is no sign that a single dollar has actually gone out the door yet. Unlike the Paycheck Protection Program loans, which are government-backed but made by private banks, the economic disaster program is handled directly by the Small Business Administration.

Once again, we see that when the central-planning authorities act alone via the Fed.gov bureaucracy, jack-shit happens. If they always need private industry to accomplish things - what’s the point of having permanent Fed.gov planners and bureaucrats?

Deposited our PPP check today. We applied on Friday, approved on Monday. Took a week to get the check. Easiest process involving the government ever.

Applied for EIDL for a quick response (only Advance). Waiting to hear from my bank as to who wants the application for PPP.

[We applied on Friday]

How did you apply? The link on the IRS website?

I may (may) get a very small refund for 2019 but haven’t done the taxes yet.

I normally go to the library and print stuff, but...

(maybe I will set up that wireless printer, LOL)

If that’s true, Trump will have someone’s ass. He’s watching.

Interesting. Thanks.

My bank won’t let us walk in, LOL.

Dunno if they pass such out at the drive-thru. I should be there tomorrow, Lord willing.

I believe Hawgwalker is talking about applying for the SBA small business PPP (Paycheck Protection Program), not the $1200 p/p “Helicopter Money” program.

The $1200. p/p is being sent out right now via direct deposit (from your 2018 return if you didn’t file for 2019 yet)(we got ours yesterday).

Good luck. I am in a similar business, not a restaurant, though, deemed essential, so we are open. Using the PPP to pay $5 per hour Corona bonus to compete a little against the unemployment plus $600 per week. My goal for the year is to break even and have a great crew when things are back to normal.

SBA sent application for PPP loan.
The EIDL is tricky. Just thought the Advance would help cover some payroll costs

Sounds correct. I didn’t have anything that year (not enough for Federal anyways).

Wouldn’t normally have to file for even 2019 (unfortunately, the way things were) but may have a small, small, small refund coming.

Looks like we’re all on this train...or a few of us, anyways.
