I dont know.

Three shots were fired but there were 4 injuries. Thigh, thigh, knee and buttocks. Not sure I could achieve that if I tried.

Actually, shot placement was pretty good IF the victim actually intended to shot the teens where they were hit; incapacitating but survivable wounds. Life changing, but not life ending, wounds.

The teens will live and they, along with their parents, have to explain how they got on an essentially empty bus at 1:00 am and somehow managed to get into a confrontation with a passenger seated all the way in the back of the bus.

This is just speculation beyond what was reported in the story, but, given the city, why do I have the feeling that the three teens probably already have criminal records?

Not sure if race will also emerge as a factor since there are probably a number of young black adults in the city that have legitimate CCW permits. The victim might have been a armed security guard traveling home after his shift ended. Maintaining a car in the city is expensive, so riding the bus back and forth to work is reasonable. Being armed, the shooting was probably inevitable if they tried to rob him; giving up the pistol to street criminals was a worse option than shooting them.
