During a recent radio interview with Fox News' Geraldo Rivera, Vice President Mike Pence expressed hope the country can move past the Wuhan coronavirus crisis by Memorial Day Weekend.
"If you look at the trends today, I think by Memorial Day Weekend we will largely have this coronavirus epidemic behind us...state and local officials will begin to reopen activities, youre going to see states ahead here begin to do that, Pence said.
During the daily White House briefing Thursday night, Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Advisor Bill Bryan outlined new details from a study showing the virus dies in high heat and humidity, signaling an easier summer.
"If you look at the first three lines, when you see the word surface, we're talking about nonporous surfaces: door handles, stainless steel. And if you look at the, as the temperature increases, as the humidity increases, with no sun involved, you can see how drastically the half-life goes down on that virus. So the virus is dying at a much more rapid pace, just from exposure to higher temperatures and just from exposure to humidity," Bryan said.
"If you look at the fourth line, you inject summer, the sunlight into that. You inject UV rays into that. The same effects on line two, as 70 to 35 degrees with 80 percent humidity on the surface. And look at line four, but now you inject the sun. The half-life goes from six hours to two minutes. That's how much of an impact UV rays has on the virus," he continued.
Meanwhile, states across the country are starting to slowly open up certain sectors of their economies based on the three phase plan outlined by the White House last week. Georgia is an exception and Governor Brian Kemp has been berated by White House officials, including President Trump, for opening too soon.
Look for a lot of push back at the presser.
Newsom will keep us on house arrest all summer. If the rest of the country rolls over and just takes that they're just as bad.
We are approaching wedding and graduation season. Please open and let testing for required certifications begin again.
May 25th is a long way off. We cannot survive hiding in our basements until then.
And now the VP is advocating injecting SUNLIGHT into our veins! He IS! HEISHEISHEIS!!! [insert eyeroll emoji here]
I’m running out of patience with the muddled messages.
Gov. Kemp is going too soon. Pence says Memorial Day. Fauci keeps dropping stinkbombs in the press about months and months. Trump needs to just pick a damned date and stick to it.
Sure, Memorial Day...and Trump will lose in Nov.
The Democrats and the media are not going to allow it.
If this lockdown goes past Memorial Day we will be playing Taps for the U.S. economy.
That’s an absurd trial balloon with Georgia open for bidness and AK, IN, MT, NB, ND, OH, OK, TN, TX mostly open for bidness on or before May 1.
Advisors: “The storm is here but it looks like we will get a lull or opening for only a few hours general.”
Eisenhower: “Let’s do this sh*t. We f*ck it up it’s on me. Today, we ride!”
Another excerpt from “Sapwolf’s History for Deplorable Christian Homeshooling Militia Children” little golden book.
Amazon top review: “Ignore the title, this one hits the mark in today’s world of tyranny and fear. We cannot sit on the sideline anymore and think Da’Man can do it alone. FIVE count’em five stars!”
;-)
If VPOTUS is out floating trial balloons the task force is pretty much in total disarray.
Earlier today Michigan emergency network announced while in stores people wear non-medical masks and maintain the distance blah blah blah.
I suggest, if anyone fails to see the absurdity in that statement, call a medical expert to get a valued opinion on the importance of wearing a cloth over your mouth in maintaining your health in these harrowing times.
Better be sooner than that!
It was only supposed to be TWO (2) WEEKS!
That is bad news - another month! That is far too long for a nation to purposely tank its own economy.
And there is no guarantee that the governments social distancing experiment will even work, or that it will not badly backfire.
Natural herd immunity has been the mechanism for fighting viruses since the dawn of man. Social distancing is a brand new, unproven, bureaucratic approach.
Perversely, this central-planned social distancing approach is mutually exclusive with the tried-and-true mechanism nature offers us - as it prevents the exposure necessary to stimulate natural herd immunity.
So, as soon as we stop social distancing, the Covid-19 will pick up right where it left off - attacking a population which has built up no natural immunity. We are turning ourselves into a population of boys in a bubble. We are not letting our bodies fight this virus - we are avoiding the fight - postponing it. And a vaccine is way to uncertain and way too far off.
Who are these arrogant know-it-alls who suddenly decided we should take this approach, and bet against Mother Nature? Why do we let them decide for us?
I swear, if the patriots of 1776 had been anything like the Americans of today, the revolution would never have happened.
I watch the daily press beating every day. Usually on delay since one can’t know when it will actually begin.
BUT, it works out good for me because I can just fast forward whenever Pence is speaking or go watch some paint dry while I’m waiting for someone else to start speaking.
‘Trump needs to just pick a damned date and stick to it.’
I notice that sometime next week, Colorado is going to allow certain stores, including hair salons, to start opening...so at tonight’s presser, I’ll be expecting Trump to go off on governor Polis, a dem, the same way he went off on Kemp...think that’ll happen...
In CT it was from opening on May 20 to, my “experts” will spend a month writing a report on how to reopen, which they will present on May 20, then we will decide how or when we reopen.
