Commentary, Special Reports, and COVID-19 Update Information5
Interesting Tid-bits (hopefully)

Global Fatalities Milestone

On Saturday the 25th of April, deaths from COVID-19 passed the 200
thousand mark globally.

Global Cases of COVID-19 Milestone

On Sunday the 26th of April, the 3 millionth case of COVID-19 will be
identified globally.

the Mortality Reprot Now Resides in Section: 05

When I first decided to add a Mortality Report to the nightly COVID-19
Update, I wanted it to be up front so folks couldn't miss it. Now that
folks know it's available, I've moved it down in the report.

I moved it from Section: 02 to Section: 05, and moved other reports up.

the Territories and Other Entities of the United States

They are currently available in two places. They will appear after the
States spreadsheets at the bottom of Sectioin: 08. They will also be
provided on the statesco download, LINKED in Section: 12.

In this report you'll see figures for territories, military, prisons, and
other entities.

Links to Other Resources, Section: 13

There are probably one or more duds in this section right now, but I have
also tried to document some treatments that have been heralded. If some
of you run into a tough patch, you might want to review those types of
LINKED articles there.

I will be reviewing the LINKS there, and will delete some and add in
more. I want it to be a decent resource.

Check back in. It will become a better more useful section. It already
has some gems there. The "On the Origin of CCP Virus" video linked there
is an impressive documentary from Epoch Times. You, your family members,
and associates should see it.

Section: 02

The Following Addresses the Numbers Here in
the United States of America

35-39 Thousand New Cases Each Day for the Last Three Days

We continued our upward trend of growth.

Fatalities, Recoveries, Resolved, Active Cases, and
Serious/Critical Cases in the United States

Concept of adding in Active Cases and Serious Crital here, courtesy of amorphous

Here's more of our numbers...

Our fatalities for yesterday came in a little over 2,000.

Our Slice of the COVID-19 Pie

The growth of our Slice of the Pie has been slowing. On the 16th it actaully
went netative for one report row on my spread-sheet. Luckily it was the EOD
figure so you could see it.

Here are the numbers I've been tracking, Globale Declared and Active Cases.

We had a down tick in that number on the rigth yesterday, but back up again
today. We'll get there...

I think it's an interesting indicator on it's own, but it's not really
sufficient. We now have seven sets of data looking at the U. S. vs the
world. We win some and lose some. LLook for these in Section 09.

Section: 03

The Following Addresses the Global Numbers
without Mainland China

Here is the first chart for the Global Outside China Territories

The good news. Yesterday was not FRIDAY! We dropped back down, but still
a bit higher than we had been, and if you go back five days, we're in
much higher territory. Not good.

Fatalities, Recoveries, Resolved, Active Cases, and
Serious/Critical Cases - Globally, Excluding M/L China

Concept of adding in Active Cases and Serious Crital here, courtesy of amorphous

Here we go...

Still struggling...

How is the Global Community Outside China Doing,
Without U. S. numbers?

Well, not too good yesterday...

This community is trending upward.

Things are taking a bump in the wrong direction.

Special Section on France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U. K.
Case growth.

Lets Look at Some Numbers in Five Day Increments:

Germany is looking pretty good there. They've kept their deaths down pretty
well. Compared to the others, their numbers are impressie.

France seems to have taken a turn in the right direction. In fact both
France and Germany have veered away from the rapid rise in cases compared
to the others.

Sweden and It's Neighbors, Who Has the Best Tactic Againt COVID-19?

Sweeden is doing their own thing with regard to isolating. I think most people
are aware of it by now.

Here are some numbers to help us look at this issue.

I hate to say it, because I want people back at work, but it seems to me
that Sweden has shown what going back to work might wind up doing. I
don't think it has to be that way, if folks are careful. From what I've
seen it doesn't seem like the Swedish people are careful. I may be off
base on that though. I only know what I've seen presented in the limited
media I observe.

At the end of the day, we all have to find a median point between
destroying our societies and allowing too many deaths.

Finland is still looking good.

Section: 04

The Following Addresses the Global Numbers
including Mainland China*

Mainland China's numbers are 0.04% of today's total global numbers.

A Look at Declared, Resolved, and Active Cases, Includes M/L China

End of day figures follow:

That recovery percentage continues to climb. It's has grown close to 10.0%
since 04/03, when it bottomed out. That will impact our active cases. If
it continues for another two weeks, we'll be up around 40.00%. I like the
thought of that.

Fatalities, Recoveries, Resolved, Active, and Serious/Crical
Cases Globally, Including M/L China

Not much to say here. Big numbers getting bigger...!

Section: 05

the Mortality Report

Making an effort to provide more mortality numbers these days.

Hopefully these upcoming numbers and charts will help with that.

Our numbers are big enough that they can hide the finer nuances of the
Global numbers outside China. For that reason, I strip our numbers off
that group and report them separately for this area of study.

Here are the figures for the growing case totals for four entities.

Here's the chart to go along with those figures.

Looks pretty ominious there doesn't it.

Here are figures revealing the daily growth for those four entities.

Our numbers are holding on the lower end of a range we've entered over
the last five days. We are higher than the range for a few days before
that.

Here's two charts to go with the above data.

Things weren't as bad as they day before, but there's nothing worth
glowing reports there, that's for sure.

Here, lets look at data for the U. S. broken out by itself.

This chart tracks he daily inrease over the previous day, in the middle
column there.

Not real thrilled...

Section: 06

Population Saturation

Here are figures revealing how many people in each population base represent one case.
I'm also showing what percent of each population base is infected at this time.

Nations With Lots of Cases

At the end of the day yesterday, there were:

That's a whole lot of nations there. With over 1,000 in each one, we know
that over time they are potential declared cases time-bombs.

Daily Case Report Evaluation

I'll be keeping tabs on the daily tallies for days of the week for a while. Folks have
noticed some patterns of larger and smaller data entry on certaind days, and on Fridays
sometimes the numbers get noticably larger because of it.

And we now know Thurdays have potential to break out also. Yikes!

Let's check out the numbers and a chart.

We're pretty much hanging out at the top end of the recent figures,
ignoring Friday as best we can.

I'll keep tracking this for at least a few more weeks to give folks a chance to detect
patterns not only on Fridays, but other days as well.

If you're missing the listing of the states here, please check out
Section 08.

Section: 07

The Top 200 Counties in the U. S., by Number of Cases

This little report lists 200 Counties in the United States in declining Case numbers.
There is also a listing that is alphabetical. This report list only the entities
and the number of Cases in the two different sorts.

It will also be available as a downloadable Excel file in Section 12.

Section: 08

States of the Union and the District of Columbia, Compared to Each Other

Each of these pages is sorted differently. Look at the red header above
the columns to see which column was used for the sort on any given page.

Section: 09

The United States, Where it Ranks With Other Natons?

Each of these pages is sorted differently. Look at the red header above
the columns to see which column was used for the sort on any given page.

The U. S. will be highlighted red here so we can find it easily in the list.
There were 212 nations on this list last night now. I didn't want to post
seven lists with 212 nations on it, so I picked the top 50. Coincidentally,
one report category has the U. S. at 41st, so it wasn't showing up on the
list with 31 top spots on it. That wasn't the reason why I extended the
list length, but it did work out well.

I work on the nations right next to the states on my spreadsheet. The
states with the Disctrict of Columbia come in at a total of 51 lines.
I decided to keep the international reports near that length, and 50
was good enough.

Here we go... for your review.

One,

Before the chi-com virus, the average death rate in the USA was about 7,900 per day from all causes.

During the past several months with 2-3000 new deaths from the chi-com virus, has the average USA daily death rate gone up or down.

With all of the input that you access, how would you find that info?

If you already have it could you publish the running numbers as another segment?

Michigan has finally ramped up its testing. And the metric they want to use for reopening the state is % of positive tests. The magic number is 12.5 percent positives. We just dipped below 20% on friday. Fingers crossed...

Interesting data. I hadn’t looked in a few weeks. Looks like the fda change to a single target pos has dramatically increased the positives. Incredible. But there is a reason we use two or more targets in molecular. Are they truly pos? Esp since we test folks w mild symptoms now.
It will fit nicely into their new narrative that you may not be immune. Well of course not, you weren’t pos in the first place.

On Wednesday April 1 I began tracking the number of ‘serious, critical’ cases being reported in the USA.

These are the people who may likely die in the next few days.

If the ‘serious, critical’ number goes up, we will likely see more deaths. On the other hand if the various drugs being tested are effective in treating the virus, the ‘serious, critical’ number should go down.

Here are the numbers:

Apr 14 Tue 13473
Apr 15 Wed 13487
Apr 16 Thu 13369
Apr 17 Fri 13509
Apr 18 Sat 13551
Apr 19 Sun 13566
Apr 20 Mon 13951
Apr 21 Tue 14016
Apr 22 Wed 14016
Apr 23 Thu 14997
Apr 24 Fri 15097
Apr 24 Sat 15110

We had a plateauing of serious/critical cases at 13,500 from April 14 thru April 19. And then a 500 patient jump on Monday . And Thursday we had a 1000 patient increase.

I looked at the worldometer website to see how they collect the serious/critical data: “Today, it represents for the most part the number of patients currently being treated in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), if and when this figure is reported.”

I am hoping the reason behind this recent 1,500 patient increase in serious/critical patients is due to the fact hospitals have many vacant ICU beds. If I were the hospital administrator it would be reasonable to move a covid patient from a regular hospital bed to ICU as they get more care and oversight.

What we need to see is a slowdown in the number of people who are serious/critical and a slowdown in the number of people dying. Unfortunately, neither is happening.

I also truncated the data to keep this posting shorter. Earlier numbers are available in DoughtyOne’s tables.

Yesterday, Gov Ron DeSantis held his press conference at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida.

The doctors spoke about their success in treating patients on ventilators and another device I forget the exact name of.

One of the things Cleveland Clinic is doing is to put patients on ventilators early.

Thank you.

It is raining in New Jersey. Our covid-19 hospitalizations peaked April 14th.

Our veterans, disabled and elderly in NJ nursing homes have been hardest hit.

All our numbers are trending down, but sadly there are many Covid positive high risk patients still in our nursing homes, hospitals and ICUs that will not survive this infection. Deaths in NJ attributed to Covid-19 death toll will continue to rise.

Thank you again for posting this. You do quite a lot of work on this!

Previously, I had made a projection of case growth to determine how well the social distancing restrictions were working. While I do see they have been working, I need to go back and determine what the current growth rate is. I am seeing a lot of noise about how people are tired of the quarantine and want to go back to life as usual. Yes, I get it—the quarantine is no fun. We had been planning to go to Myrtle Beach this month, and now have to postpone indefinitely. But if the people demanding an end to quarantine get enough momentum, the numbers will start to increase at a faster rate. So knowing what the current growth rate is will be essential to showing a change if people’s efforts to end quarantine prevail.

I remember hearing the hardships that people went through during WWII. They went through rationing that endured for years. We’re soft these days, with so many not even able to tolerate a few weeks of quarantine (which will only stretch longer as more people refuse to comply).

Thank you for sharing the link.

Governor DeSantis and the Cleveland Clinic MD Barsoum were both calm, factual and informative.

What a difference from NJ and NY briefings.

DeSantis sent fifty 4 person National Guard Strike teams to nursing homes hot spots. Wow!

Besides the ventilator, the other device was the ECMO (extra corporpeal membrane oxygenation). It is an artificial lung.

The press briefing was very professional. Florida bravo.

Yesterday, I asked if anyone had data on the amount of testing for each day since April 1st. I found this CDC website beginning with data from week 14 (March 29-April 4) on the testing done by commercial labs (col 2), clinical labs (col 3) and public health labs (col 4)

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/covid-data/pdf/covidview-04-24-2020.pdf

A couple of observations:

1. The clinical labs are testing 50,000 each week. The public health labs are testing 80,000 each week.

2. Commercial lab testing numbers are going down instead of up. Why?

I am now waiting on the CDC to update their data for week 17 (April 19 - April 25). Perhaps, the commercial lab numbers will get increased for week 15 and 16 when the new report comes out.

14 535,671 52,267 77,163

Last week in his daily press conference Gov Ron DeSantis made a comment that the testing numbers in Florida included those who were being retested after being tested positive earlier.

As such Gov DeSantis said it skewed the numbers by hiding the true number of ‘new cases’ testing positive.

Well, the Florida Department of Health ‘got the message’ from the boss and today the Florida Department of Heath is reporting the percent of ‘new cases’ that are testing positive. Yesterday, 5% of the ‘new cases’ tested came back positive.

If you go to page 2 of the report you can see the declining trend of the ‘new cases’ that are testing positive in Florida.

I suspect there are many other states who have not adopted this metric in measuring ‘positive’ results from testing and they continue to skew the positive numbers by including retesting of known positive cases.

https://floridadisaster.org/globalassets/covid19/dailies/covid-19-data-—daily-report-2020-04-25-0956.pdf

Percent positivity for new cases
This percent is the number of people who test positive for the first time divided by all the people who test negative for that day, excluding people who have previously tested positive
