Dr. Deborah Birx said the media’s continuing focus on President Trump’s comments about people being injected with disinfectant as a coronavirus treatment “bothers” her and jeopardizes the administration’s ability to get information to people about the pandemic.
“It bothers me that this is still in the news cycle,” Birx, the White House’s coronavirus response coordinator, told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday “I worry that we don’t get the information to the American people that they need when we continue to bring up something that was from Thursday night.”
“Because I think we’re missing the bigger pieces of what we need to be doing as an American people to continue to protect one another,” Birx added.
She said that Trump was having a “dialogue” with the Department of Homeland Security scientist about information he had recently received about how heat, light and disinfectants affect the coronavirus.
“We have made it clear, and when he turned to me, I made it clear and he understood that it was not as a treatment. And I think that kind of dialogue will happen,” Birx said on CNN.
“I think what got lost in there, which is very unfortunate in what happened next, is that study was critically important for the American people.”

She is right. Various writers are inserting increasingly unhinged accounts of POTUS’s question in stories that have little if anything to do with it. In the spirit of inquiry, people have the right to ask questions. Not doing so, but instead just going along with the experts is how you end up with groupthink. You have to be able to ask questions and problem solve. It’s bad to try to shut that process down. For one thing it’s treats Birx dismissively, like she can’t defend her own area of expertise.
This really does get to the root of what is wrong with the establishment media. Ironically enough.

Trump was asking for something to kill the virus - “something like that” (like antibiotics or what substances like quinine do to stop various diseases). Wasn’t Zinc treatments promising (has that changed?)
The medical person sitting right there when Trump said this stuff SHOULD have stepped in to explain a bit of the kinds of ‘things like that’ which are being tried (many being ‘injected’ ...)
Trump wants American Citizens to have a Cure. He isn’t a doctor. How many of YOU out there actually know how a virus actually works to infect and spread?? Or what it takes to treat it? So we are talking generalities here.

What you are missing here is that Doc Birx doesn’t want the daily press briefings to end because she and Doc Fauci don’t want to be out of the limelight. Both are totally loving their 15 minutes of fame in the media glow, and the power they have to shape the speed at which our economy is re-opened. Both are Dems, Clinton/Obama lovers, and both get their digs in against Trump in an infinite variety of subtle ways.
I have gotten to the point that the only part of these press briefings I wanted to watch was the interplay of the President with our corrupt MSM press. However, Fauci and Birx hovering in the background and then getting to speak their piece, usually saying something I disagreed with (basically trying to slow down the opening of our economy) was spoiling the whole briefing for me. Birx and Fauci are publicity hounds, and they and their false modeling stats have been infinitely more detrimental to our society than beneficial. I want them both gone, and not having as many briefings or none at all doesn’t particularly bother me. These press briefings have outlived their usefulness, and Trump needs to figure out a new mechanism to get before the public in a more positive way now. Perhaps just occasional briefings, about 2-3 a week, with the emphasis being on the economy and protecting workers’ jobs via stricter immigration rules, using a new cast of characters explaining the steps being taken to get our economy chugging along, with national security interests also being emphasized.
Deprive the foul and ideologically driven press of a forum for their gotcha questions. They screwed themselves out of the former daily white house briefings by misusing their individual pulpits with misleading and nasty questions to the President, and now Prez Trump should cut them off at the knees from doing the same nasty barrage of questioning that they so enjoy, from these coronavirus briefings too. They will have once again shot themselves in their own feet. Good.

Even Dr. Birx has come to learn that the Fake News Media is more interested in trying to hurt me than they are in helping the American people. Together we have ALL made tremendous progress in dealing with this unprecedented situation. Rather than report our collective success the petty and partisan press revel in doing whatever it can do to harm me.

Here is the part of the briefing where President Trump speaks of "injection." It occurs 25 minutes into the briefing.
Four minutes (two questions) later in the same briefing, President Trump corrects himself after a question from Jon Karl.
Karl: The President mentioned the idea of a cleaner, like bleach or isopropyl alcohol... there's no scenario where that can be injected into a person, is there?President Trump: It wouldn't be through injection. I was referring to a cleaning, sterilization of an area. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't work, but it certainly has a big effect if it's on a stationary object.
In order for the "inject Lysol" meme to work, the MSM has to ignore the comments made just four minutes later. Bias by omission is one the major ways that the MSM corrupts the reporting of the news.
