A man in California had three unregistered shotguns taken away last week after "bizarre and threatening" posts on social media about a coronavirus government conspiracy, according to officials. A 52-year-old man from the Rancho Peñasquitos neighborhood of San Diego told police he believed COVID-19 was an "elaborate hoax" to allow the tracking of Americans through 5G cell towers, the San Diego City's Attorney's Office said in a news release on Saturday.
“Stress from the COVID-19 public health crisis is exacerbating anxiety and mental health struggles for many,” city attorney Mara Elliott said in a statement. “Thanks to public vigilance, police were able to safely intervene and remove firearms from someone who presented a danger to himself and others before he resorted to violence.”

How is this different than China where if you don’t get the correct government social score you lose rights and privliges? What better way to supress speech than to threaten to remove someone’s 2nd Amendment right. What next, claim the COVID-19 hysteria is being supported with political motivations and then have your guns taken away? Sort of like YouTube and Google, right?

Does this mean FReepers who don’t believe that AIDS is caused by the HIV virus are eligible to have their guns seized as well? Where does it end?

Sounds like this guy needs to contact the DoJ, no that Barr said that it will go after states that violate civil rights.
ALL cell towers. Not just “5Gee”. Then again a person could always leave their cell phone at home.
If he’s like a criminal he could obtain a gun within a half-hour.
I'd say it's about the same and not much we can do about it, actually.
That is the funny thing about people who are afraid of cell towers. The vast majority can't get more than 2 feet from their cell phones before they start getting antsy.
The slippery slope to 1984 socialist dictatorship has become a free fall. COVID-19 is the excuse for every limitation of our rights and thoughts.
I got antsy a couple weeks ago when I left mine home. But, only because Mrs rktman was trying to call me. Not only was it home, it wasn’t on either. Which is the usual status for mine. :-)
