My parents were snowbirds in the last few years of their lives. They couldn’t afford to maintain two conventional homes so they purchased two nice mobile homes in senior parks. It provided them with great opportunities for camaraderie and security.
My older brother took over one of the homes when my parents passed. He lives there still. It’s a tidy two-bedroom home with nice landscaping - no different than most in Anytown USA. That these two JBT’s would mock or disparage someone based on that sort of standard makes my blood boil.
We will get past this - but I won’t be forgetting what they subjected us to anytime soon.
There’s a micro-park near my home. The Stasi placed crime scene tape on the swingset and entrances. It would seem that *someone* tore down the crime scene tape a few nights ago.

I hear you. For 45 years we have owned (free & clear) a property with a 2100 sq ft stick-built 120-year-old home and a 1600 sq ft remodeled barn used as an art studio/shop on 80 acres with 1000’ of river frontage on a Class A trout stream.
It’s now too much for us to maintain. We closed the sale March 20, in the 1st throes of shutdown. It was like doing a drug deal as we had to remain in the car in the parking lot of the title company.
We have spent the past 5 weeks looking for our retirement home. In our modest price range, a 1500 sq ft mobile home, usually with additions, and 1 or two large pole buildings/garages for shop and storage on 1-2 acres in a rural or rural subdivision is ideal. Most are extremely nice with lots of amenities.
Problem is, residents of blue states are buying them up sight unseen and often offering over the ask. Some can’t get financing, so they ping-pong on and off the market. We _are_ looking in vacation country as DH likes to sail.
And, for those who don’t know, the average price in the region we’re considering starts at around $120k for over 1/4 acre lot.
I was also once an ignorant snob. No more.
Holy crap. And how many children have covid? How many deaths? Riiiight. These rules are purely capricious power grabs. There is no scientific reason to hold healthy young people hostage.

Meh...I chalk this up to the outrage culture...everyone has to be outraged by something. If the mom was not making sure her child did not go to someone’s house who may have not wanted visitors, she’s just as much at fault as the helicopter parent who called the cops...just pick up the phone and call the other parent and ask them to keep the kid away during this period. Everybody has to have a cell phone video to post something they’re outraged about...there’s over 300+ million of us...we’re going to tick each other off from time to time...no need to be outraged by every, single thing and post it on social media, etc.
