Your chance of dying from COVID-19 is notably higher if you live in a blue state.
There is only one reliable metric that reveals how likely you are to die from COVID-19 in a given state, and it isnt what youre seeing in the legacy media. The number of new cases and deaths, for example, are staples of news stories about the pandemic. Neither of these factoids, however, tells us very much in the absence of sophisticated epidemiological data that just isnt yet available. A far more predictive metric is death rate per million. Why? Testing is far more consistent for fatal cases. By this measurement, you are probably more likely to die from coronavirus if you live in a blue state rather than one of its scarlet counterparts.
If you live in New Jersey, you are 13 times more likely to die from COVID-19 than if you live in Florida. The Garden States death rate per million is 895.2, according to the RealClearPolitics coronavirus tracker, compared to only 65.1 deaths per million for Florida. This disparity cant be written off to demography or testing. Florida has a huge elderly population, and it has conducted twice as many tests as New Jersey. Finally, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis resisted the draconian stay-at-home orders imposed by his Democratic counterpart in New Jersey and hasnt been afraid to point out that he was right:

Good point, I might add, that people living in dense urban areas tend to live in multi-story buildings that require residents to use shared elevators with no fresh air supply.
Britain is an Island, explain that.
Just a side note to your comment.
I have never been a smoker. But, I have COPD. Many people in E. Asia do. Not only do they smoke like freight trains but they breathe air that is incredibly polluted. A man I go to church with (Chinese American) was thrown out of the PRC because he started monitoring the air quality from the roof of his company’s office in Beijing. The amount of very fine particles in the air was 150 times higher than was safe. Wuhan is dirtier than Beijing.
You don’t need to look any farther for the death toll in China than that fact. Probably 80% of the population has at least mild COPD.
China is a nation of people with a chronic respiratory condition
IF
Your local governing authority is Progressive or Blu
AND
Your healthcare system is largely publicly administered
AND
You are over the age of 70
AND
Your effective locale is high-density population
AND
You have a history of susceptibility to viral respiratory infections (you ‘always’ get the flu)
AND
You have a pre-existing cardio-pulmonary condition or relevant at-risk factor
THEN
You will likeley contract the COVID 19/20/21/n virus from casual exposure
AND
You will likely die from (or be allowed to expire) pneumonia as a complication of the infection.
The same is true for an H1N1 Type A influenza (seasonal ‘flu’)

Demographics. Taiwan is not burdened with a perpetual underclass of lazy, shiftless, low IQ gibs-me-dats rule breakers who are bred to risky behavior.
Every hot spot is a sanctuary city or state.
Astute observation BernieBro, or is it Comrade ?
The primary way they did that was by using databases maintained by the government in Taiwan. Those databases include family registration data, down to your cell phone number, your 14 day travel history, and your medical records. The government used data from all three sources to be able to identify anyone who, for example, showed up at a pharmacy or doctor's office who had recently traveled to China.
The government also instituted a plan whereby in order to get past customs when you arrived back in Taiwan you had to get a clearance message delivered to your cell phone that you would show to the border control officers before they would let you in.
Mask wearing was strongly adopted as soon as the news of the virus came out. Having been in Taiwan I remain unconvinced that social distancing of the sort we have here is even possible in many places, and the tolerance for situations likely to have lots of germs involved is much higher in Taiwan than here.
The Taiwanese government did a great job managing the COVID-19 epidemic. However the social structures and governmental access to private health, travel, and other data that they were able to utilize are not available here, or in many other countries.
“In NY, if Covid doesnt kill you the Cuomo taxes will.”
Dibs on “Cuomo-19.”
What is very annoying about all of this is that even though they were operating merely on assumptions, half baked ideas, and frankly a movie script (Contagion) early on, you had folks making policies that were extremely invasive, draconian, and frankly unconstitutional, and most folks just went along with it.
OK, “NOW,” we know better, and now we have a clue on what to do, when, how, etc. But many of the measures early on were just knee jerk reactions that didn’t even make a difference. But by God, if you do not play along some idiot cop would come after you, or a $1,000 fine would be levied against you for not wearing a mask, or undercover stings were set up for hair dressers operating in peoples homes and not abiding to the social distancing policies...

Here in Arlington Texas they decided to close all the parks. Of course people went anyway. So government thinking for the people decided to remove all the portable toilets and lock up those that are permanent structures. Guess what happened? Yup, things are a bit stinky right about now. Leave it to a government official.
LOL,
“Cuomo-19”
30+ lbs overweight seems to be an issue with CCV, also, especially from the waste up.
Most of the people under 60 dying from CCV (and not secondary bacterial infections) portrayed by the media have had multiple chins in their “glamour shots”.
Anecdotal, yes, but if you look fat in the picture the family gives the media, you were likely fatter in reality.
CCV hates fat people.
What the bloody hell are you going on about? On second though, never mind. *ignore*
You earned it, better get a patent :)
Yes.
Add high levels of mass transit.
“Yup. Its where theyre packed in like sardines. Especially if theyre also dependent on public transportation where theyre even packed tighter.”
Exactly. Mass transport is a huge factor.
And New York didn’t even begin disinfecting the cars until a few days ago.
And they didn’t increase the subway’s capacity to make cars less crowded, they decreased hours of operation and trains in service.
Now our California government wants us all to live like that for their green world fantasies in hive housing next to mass transit hubs.
Bump
I’m “going on about” your implied socialist assertion about generations of poor people trapped in unhealthy conditions by the capitalist system.
I think blue states and areas are over reporting to fan the mass hysteria flames. And to get money.
