Fauci’s misdirection here is downright Clintonian.

“If you look at the evolution of the virus in bats, and what’s out there now is very, very strongly leaning toward this [virus] could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated,” he said, adding that the mutation pattern of the virus is highly suggestive of a natural origin.

However, the allegation is that SARS-CoV-2 likely escaped from Wuhan Institute of Virology laboratory (either the Level 2 lab nearby the seafood market or the Fauci-funded Level 4 lab about eight miles distant.) Whether SARS-CoV-2 is a chimera created in the Fauci-funded Wuhan lab or an unaltered specimen from a captured horseshoe bat or collected feces from a horseshoe bat is another issue entirely.

The story about its having escaped from the seafood market doesn’t add up. Horseshoe bats (genus Rhinolophus) are the variety that host SARS-like coronaviruses. Horseshoe bats are microbats that live something like 1000 miles away from Wuhan. The bats in the genus Rhinolophus are not preferred by those who enjoy bat cuisine. They only weigh about 10 grams, which is way too small to be worthwhile. Chinese bat aficionados prefer dishes prepared from the larger bat species in the genera of Cynopterus, Hipposideros, and Rousettus. Furthermore, bat cuisine is only popular in southern and southwestern Chinese provinces (far south of Wuhan.) There is one exception to the popularity of bat in Hubei and other regions: during Chinese New Year, eating bat is thought to bring good luck because the word for bat is similar to the word for luck. However, patient zero for COVID-19 presented in either late November or early December, about two months before Chinese New Year. Dozens of witnesses have reported that bat was never sold in the seafood market.

I read the “Lab-Made?” article at Medium last week after Bret Weinstein mentioned it on his podcast.

Like you, I got lost but I plugged through to the end.

Dr. Weinstein is the progressive evolutionary biologist who got run off Evergreen College for failing to kowtow to political correctness. He’s a very unusual progress because he seems to be scrupulously intellectually honest. Dr. Weinstein noted that the scientific analysis in the paper is solid. Since my biology education ended in high school, I have to trust his expertise to a large extent.

One thing is certain: Both UNC Chappel Hill and Wuhan Institute of Virology have engaged in “gain-in-function” research involving the creation of coronavirus chimeras and have published papers that document some of their research. Many knowledgeable biologists object to such research, arguing that its risks far outweigh any potential benefit.

When the Novel Coronavirus-19 first charged out of China, we did not know what we were looking at and took the measures as if it was a MONSTER, but as more and more was learned, it became apparent it was NOT THE MONSTER the mainstream media was trumpeting 24/7 is STILL screaming at the top of the progressive Liberal lungs it is.

The first two are only semi-true.

• COVERED WITH SPIKES to ensure it latches onto those host cells. They are not “spikes.” They are connectors that latch onto receptors on cells. They are more like specifically cut ”keys” that fit into almost unique ”locks” on specific cells, ACE2 cells, which unlocks entry through the cell wall to allow access the cells RNA and DNA replication machinery.

• LETHAL, especially in elderly people. Even among older people, the actual case mortality rate, the possibility of dying for those who contract this disease is only about 5-6%, if that. The overall case mortality rate, even at the start, was less than 2%. We now are looking at an overall case mortality rate that may be as low as 0.1% or less.

Your third point is absolutely true.

• STEALTHY, able to be spread by people who show no symptoms at all, or none for 14 days, ensuring maximum spread. This one is absolutely true, because approximately 95% of those who contract this disease never know they’ve had it. However, this is a hallmark of almost any infectious disease. They result in a bell curve of infected persons. At one end are those who are fatally impacted. At the other are those who completely fight off the invasion of the virus. In between are those who are infected who display a range of symptoms from severe to none at all, but recover. The vast majority will have either mild symptoms, discomfort, or not know they are infected.

The next is another half-truth:

• EXTREMELY EASY to transmit through air and on surfaces. It is only airborne, but not extremely easy to transmit through air. Surfaces is much more problematic as it does not survive on surfaces for any appreciable length of time as some other more robust viruses can. It is a fragile virus, being deactivated by exposure to UV light, sunlight, heat, and just exposure to weather. It has not been found to survive longer on any surface longer than a day or so in protected environments. Outside, Meh.

This last three are actually not at all true. In fact they are false.

• HARD TO KILL - COVID19 survives only for a few hours on surfaces. Depending on the surface, and environmental conditions, sometimes only for a few minutes. It actually is remarkably easy to deactivate. (Viruses are not truly “living”) Sunlight will kill it in minutes. The virus “dies” in exposure to Ozone. It deactivates in exposure to chlorine. Many chemicals will deactivate it. UV light is “deadly” to it. Moderate temperatures are not at all friendly to it.

• NOT TREATABLE with the normal methods used to treat flu and pneumonia: It actually does respond to normal methods for treating flu and pneumonia, and is now known to have a lower case mortality rate than some of the more severe influenzas. The CDC has REDUCED the total fatality counts this past week, discounting the COVID19 deaths by removing from the count those who died from other causes, including seasonal influenza, myocardial infarctions, even automobile accidents and murders. A chart on the CDC site shows that at its worst, the overall mortality in the US, during it’s worst week which ended April 11, was increased over normal expected levels 22%. It’s been known since the publication of a scientific paper on a double-blind study in 2005, published by Dr. Fauci’s own organization that Hydroxychloroquine, in combination with Azithromycin and Zinc was an effective treatment for all versions of Corona virus infections. Dr. Fauci is ignoring his organization’s peer-reviewed published science to deny it is. There are several more besides the HCL therapy that are being used effectively around the world, including Ozone Sufflation or IV Ozone therapy, UV blood irradiation, and even high dosage Vitamin D3.

• DOESN’T INFECT ANIMALS: The COVID19 receptors actually do, according to a chart I recently saw in a scientific paper, infect the ACE2 cells several species of animals including human beings. Apparently, including, surprisingly Giraffes and hamsters. The claim that it does not is FAKE NEWS. How it affects them is another thing. There are reports of some cats. Specifically tigers are susceptible. Why? Likely, their ACE2 are similar to human ACE2.
