I think that’s probably a misrepresentation of her meaning. Every epidemiologist I’ve spoken to says that the problem is not that anyone is lying, it’s that no one really knows. So whatever conclusions you draw you must do so tentatively. That’s all. Not trusting doesn’t mean, “I think you’re lying.” It means, “We both know that the statistical quality of what we’re looking at in a new disease is not great, so we must be prepared for surprises and changes in conclusions.”
I’m pretty sure the CDC has become extremely politicized, starting in the 1990s under Clinton. This sharp turn to champion leftist issues festered under Bush2 and 0bama. I remember them pushing for doctors to ask questions about guns in the home, funding gun control studies, and talking about “racism”.
Duh? Since the whole thing is fake. The only way to fake a pandemic is to create a narrative to commandeer deaths from real disease columns over into the covid-19 column. The fight for Trump now is to overcome the fake narrative that he had to participate in early on since the goal all along by the Left was to ruin the economy. Sweden doesn’t even rise to the death level of the flu. Not enough communist participants in the government there apparently.
The CDC was too busy fighting “Climate Change” than actually preparing for a pandemic.
I wish she’d said that publicly at the time, instead of helping Fauci to spread panic.
The CDC is a bureaucracy focused on its #1 mission:
Protect the bureaucracy and its funding and find ways for it to grow.
Under both Obama and Trump, any interest in public health has existed only when it advanced the true mission of the bureaucrats.

CDC is keeping 2 sets of books on COVID-19 deaths.
One is “reporting” deaths - where the data comes from the states - if it looks like COVID-19, it is.
The other is NCHS reporting COVID-19 deaths as identified from death certificates. CDC reports it as “provisional”.

The provisional death count is 47,128 as of 05/08/2020 - with supposedly a 1-3 week lag, though I’ve read elsewhere that it’s an 8-week lag.
Pres. Trump, you are missing the boat on this and allowed Dr. Faux and others to destroy your amazing economy through their hysterics.
Birx and Fauci say nothing that anyone should pay attention to anymore, imo. They were the designated experts and they blew it. Until they admit that and explain any new positions, they should be ignored.
Experts make mistakes, but they are supposed to know how to amend them and find the right actions to take.
I have been adding the daily infection and death data to an Excel spreadsheet since late February. I use the data from Wikipedia covering the U.S., California and New York.
I believe that the data for the U.S. is simply the sum of new infections and new deaths reported each day by the individual states. I doubt but cannot guarantee that either the CDC or Brix has any influence on that process.
But I do see some trends that are worth posting about where I am using the Wikipedia data and referring to 7-day moving averages of the daily reported new infection and new death cases:
For the U.S as whole I show the New Daily Infections peaked on April 13 at 31,414. It has declined to 25,629 on May 8. So it is indeed declining. But slowly.
Deaths peaked at 2038 on April 21 and have fallen to 1786 on May 8. Also declining.
For New York, our biggest test case, I show New Infections peaking at 9664 on April 10 declining to 2878 on May 9. A very rapid almost suspicious drop in cases.
Deaths peaked at 764 on April 14 and have declined to 337 on May 8. Also a very rapid fall.
California is in a different universe. New daily infections have slowly been rising with a peak of 1806 a few days ago and 1766 on May 8. On April 8 the figure was 1236.
New daily deaths in California have been very stable, averaging about 75 per day for about 3 weeks. They appear to have plateaued.
Conclusion: A large part of the improvement in the numbers for the U.S. are due to the relatively rapid decline in infections and deaths in New York. The numbers there are still very high but the trends are very good. I suspect that there are many other states like California that are basically static in terms of infections and deaths.
Time will tell.

If you go to the CDC website, they’re still prescribing the diet that made these people obese and diabetic and therefore, more susceptible to any new virus or other challenges.
So we have a lot more really sick people living longer — which is no secret — and kept in that state with no prospects for recovery and improvement. They just call it “chronic” conditions so they can be treated by those practitioners — for life. Nowhere is that more true than in the “allergy” scams — where despite your known aversion to certain foods, airborne and topical allegens, they recommend that one shouldn’t cut them out entirely — and find what the body thrives on. Instead, they prescribe a treatment that keeps it tolerable.
The primary vulnerability of the human body is the respiratory system so when they directed everybody not to wear masks and protect themselves — it was the perfect prescription for infecting as many people as possible. Then they directed us to give up all healthful activities — like going outside and socializing in the sunlight and fresh air, or going to gyms and exercising anymore. So the advice is exactly what one would expect — if they wanted to make as many as sick as possible — meanwhile, directing the media to suppress all alternative sources.
So who to distrust most?
Yak... yak... yak... perpetuating this mess, week after week, promoting confusion, hysteria and panic. Trump should have shut this circus down a month ago. Who needs a daily body count from every state every day? This reminds me of the breathless daily body counts by the news during Vietnam. The news continues th seek glorifying American deaths.

Healthy seniors will not be “ sheltering in place” while these games continue. However if they want to issue a decree on isolating and locking down politicians over 75, I’m good with it.
