Jordan’s king warns of ‘massive conflict’ if Israel annexes land in West Bank-(Abdullah does not rule out suspending peace deal)

Jordan’s King Abdullah has warned that should Israel move forward with plans to annex parts of the West Bank, it would lead to a “massive conflict” with his country, and did not rule out pulling out of Amman’s peace deal with the Jewish state.

In an interview published Friday by the German daily Der Spiegel, Abdullah insisted that a two-state solution was “the only way forward” in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“What would happen if the Palestinian National Authority collapsed? There would be more chaos and extremism in the region. If Israel really annexed the West Bank in July, it would lead to a massive conflict with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,” he said, when asked by his interviewer about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s intention to “take advantage of the opportunity that [US President Donald] Trump has created to seize large parts of Palestine.”

research how both the militaries stack up against each other. Jordan would need support from at least 2-3 other arab nations to last more than a week in a battle.

If Israel goes ahead with this, it would be a serious blunder. Forget Jordan. Most of the rest of the world is opposed to it and it is blatantly illegal under international law. Israel would be surrendering the moral high ground and likely would end up isolated with the US as the only major power supporting them. And that could end with the arrival of the next POTUS either in January or four years from now.

Jordan is Arab Palestine.

They need to take in their people, just as Israel has taken in Jewish refugees from Arab countries.

What is “international” law??

Israel will be criticized regardless of anything they do or don’t do. Who’s going to stop them? Who really cares?

Didnt Russia recently annex the Crimea? Does anyone really care?

Baloney. Israel ceded that land to the Paliscumians, who have done NOTHING but use the proximity of the land to harm Israeli citizens. Time to take back what never should have been given away. If Israel surrendered to every other country who took offense at their very existence, there would be no Israel. Israel never has to worry about "surrendering moral high ground"; they are scrupulous about limiting the actions of their military to militants and make every attempt to spare women and children. Now tell me of the Palescumians' "moral high ground" when they sneak into Israel to murder innocents, including children and attacks on schools.

You have a point, but as I recall, the Palis aren't really their people, either. They were an ethnic faction that tried to overthrow the Hashemite monarchy, no? They're defeated refugees from Transjordan with no history in Israel.

Jordan wants the Pali mafiosi to stay as Israel's problem instead of becoming theirs once again.

From many different perspectives - that land belongs to Israel.

1. Biblically- the entire region belongs to Israel (we can always argue if the current nation of Israel is a biblical nation in another setting).

2. From an international law perspective - Israel owns that land. It was legally obtained along with other lands that the “Palestinians” have laid claim to and too many other nations have simply accepted it (anti-semitism).

3. The history of the “Palestinians” - who have no homeland because they are not of a single nation. Jordanians HATE Palestinians - probably more so than Israelis. Jordan had a massive Palestinian problem decades ago - and finally had to expel them from their country (Palestinians treated Jordan much the same way they have treated Israel - constant uprisings and troublemaking and even terrorism. The Jordanians I got to spend time with (didn’t matter if they were professed Muslims or Christian) - all seemed to agree that thee Palestinians were a troublesome people that Israel had a right to deal with however they saw fit - and also saw these Palestinian “territories” as belonging to Israel...

I spend some time in both Jordan and Israel a couple of years ago - and boy was it eye-opening. I was surprised how really NOBODY liked the Palestinians - The ONLY reason any of the Muslim nations care two beans about them - is because they are useful pawns against Israel.

So I’m really puzzled by this supposed position coming from King Abdullah, who has a history of being relatively ambivalent towards Israel - even cooperative in many aspects. I wonder who Abdullah is trying to appease....???? And remember - Jordan is a soft ally of the US in the region...

If Abdullah’s father Hussein hadn’t listened to the lies of Nasser that the (already fleeing) Egyptian army had invaded Israel, and heeded Israel’s twice made warning to stop shelling Jerusalem, the Old City and the West Bank would still be in Jordanian hands.

So screw ‘em. But Abdullah has to make warlike noises to keep his throne. And the “best Arab fighting force in the ME” still is no match for the IDF.

If Abdullah ends diplomatic relations with Israel then the border is back on a war footing which is not good for West Bank Arabs nor for Jordan. He’s not that stupid UNLESS the Pallies his Dad expelled from Jordan in 1970 have multiplied their numbers into a controlling majority that he can no longer ignore.

Israel annexed the Golan heights in 2018 with no response from war-torn Syria. PDJT moved the U.S. embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem. All three of these initiatives came decades after the fact. And West Bank Arabs aren’t going to throw away their homes and their Israeli-provided jobs just for this, in my opinion.

The West Bank is both historically, and legally part of Israel. I don’t grasp how you or anyone else can claim otherwise unless you ignore history.

The important thing is that Israel can annex whatever they want right now and Trump would support it. Once they have done it then the rest of the world can say what that want and it won't change a thing. Even future U.S. administrations can't take divide Jerusalem or get Israel to un-annex anything.

If you have a registered Freeper citing “International Law”, it should set off Warning Bells about said Freeper in my opinion.

Suck it up, Abdullah....

Israel should take ALL of the Gaza and West bank, and tell the “Palestinians” to either join the modern era and be Israeli citizens or GTFO to any shizhole muslim nation that will take them.

I have been hearing about the “Palestinians” since I was a little kid; over 50 years now. End this bullsqueeze NOW!

BTW, Jordan has no economic or military power.... they can go pack goat fudge.

We have them all that land in Gush Katif... Thousands of acres...

“for peace.”

I was there. Families who had lived there 50++ years simply displaced so Hamas could replace them with rocket launchers...

Not a PEEP from the Mainstream media on Israel’s concessions.

NO MORE LAND FOR PEACE.

NO MORE ANYTHING FOR PEACE.

Frankly they should have kept the Sinai.
