According to this story, the owner said nothing had ever been taken from the property.

“It was kind of unsettling to have somebody coming on your property in the middle of the night,” English told the AJC. The videos show no evidence of theft and English told police nothing was ever taken from the property.”

From what I have heard, Mr. English has changed his story at the advice of his lawyer (leaving the McMichaels twisting in the wind). I not sure what the truth is anymore.

Here's what was reported by the NYTimes a few days ago...

Two months before Ahmaud Arbery was fatally shot in Glynn County, Ga., a police officer there sent a text to a property owner who was worried about recurring trespassing incidents, a lawyer for the homeowner said on Friday.

The officer provided the phone number of a nearby resident, telling the owner to call it the next time his motion-sensing security cameras whirred into action.

The owner seems to be changing his story and distancing himself as much as possible from this incident. He previously confirmed that $2,500 worth of fishing gear was stolen from his property but didn't report it to police: https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-shooting-of-ahmaud-arbery-an-unarmed-black-man-is-roiling-georgia?via=twitter_page

"two thefts had occurred in the neighborhood in the first two months of the year. One was a theft of $2,500 worth of fishing equipment from English’s property, which he said he didn’t report to police but confirmed to The Daily Beast. The second report was of the theft of a 9mm handgun from Travis McMichael’s unlocked truck"
