Five Quick Things: Let That Mask Slip
The American Spectator ^ | 25 May 20 | Scott McKay

Posted on 05/25/2020 5:58:19 AM PDT by SkyPilot

That mask isn't virtuous, nor is it going to keep you from catching the virus. Plus, various other things.

It’s time to say a few things which need to be said — and to irritate some people who need to be irritated (as they are surely irritating).

And on with the show…

1. Enough with the Mask-Nazi nonsense.

Those of us who refuse to live our lives in fear, or to bow to those who do, have a message for the rest of you — the time has come and gone for us to continue with this idiotic charade of wearing masks in public.

The mask is not an adequate defense against the COVID-19 virus, gang. The virus checks in at somewhere between 0.06 and 0.14 microns, meaning it’s too small for any commercially available mask to effectively filter it out. The pores on an N95 mask, which are the best masks you’re reasonably going to find, and the vast, vast majority of you are not going to have N95 masks but rather cloth masks which perform far less well, are 0.3 microns.

Meaning that while the N95 mask you wish you had but don’t, and that you shouldn’t have because doctors and nurses who have to treat coronavirus patients daily in hospitals need a steady supply of them, might trap the virus most of the time, that crappy cloth mask you’re wearing is more or less worthless. All it’s doing is signaling to people that you think you care more about the virus than they do.

But if you really want to wear that mask, OK. Go ahead and wear it. It’s time to stop giving the stink-eye, or worse, a piece of your Karen mind, to people who aren’t impressed with your Mask Virtue...

After wearing them in one place, we take the custom fitted masks off before getting in the car and put them in a bag before sanitizing hands. We carry several clean masks and put one before going into the next place.

Some people have been paranoid or even hostile about other people wearing masks and minding their own business, so I’m going to put check valves in them and routinely insert the better filters in the pockets. ;D

Wrong. Why?? Because we are not talking about the need to filter “virus particles”. Bare virus particles simply don’t exist in the particulate emissions from sneezes, coughts, speech, or breathing. Those emissions are basically water drops with various concentrations of salt and other chemicals from the human system, and far larger than the quoted 0.14 micron size quoted.

Pics of the Hong Kong protestors don’t look like groveling supplicants.

They’re fighting for their freedom against PLA trained ‘police’.

Using rocks, branches and potted plants. That’s all they have unfortunately.

But they’re wearing masks to hide their identities as much as possible.

And they never had the CV caseload the province immediately to their north did. In spite of almost unrestricted travel between the two (Thanks Carrie Lam! you PLA sucking toad!) for months.

Where do you find the valves?

“Nordstrom’s reopened and requires it.”

Nordstrom’s. Costco. Tons of other businesses requiring it NOW — now that the WuFlu has pretty much run its course and they’re useless.

Revelation says that, thanks to the anti-Christ, there’ll be something imposed on the population which will separate people. “... no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark”. When mask wearers can engage in commerce, and the mask-less cannot, there’s a problem.

See the valves on some of those masks? Do you know what they are and what they are for? They’re for morons who hate people for wearing masks.

;D

Well then we’ve already had the rapture.

Mask laws were in force in the 1918 pandemic.

Does this mean we’re the remnant?

“your gloves could be transferred to all the other surfaces you touch.”

And last week it was revealed that it doesn’t stay/live on surfaces.

(Thank you Dr. Fauci for lying ONCE AGAIN three months ago to instill fear in an entire civilization.)

In the meantime, strip clubs are reopening with masks required for all, and no other clothing for the women. What a strange world this has become.

Similar here. I have one on hand and will not cause a ruckus if asked to don it, but so far it has only been suggested in the places I shop, which is once or twice a week. No one has given me the stink eye that I know of. Many others go about without a mask as well. This overwrought publicity sure has manipulated the population at large, though.

People running errands aren’t going to take the mask off between stops.

We do. We're also shopping and spending less out of sheer annoyance. We've had it with businesses that kowtow to this crap.

The author of the article is a science idiot (except perhaps for social sciences) who knows little about the laws of physics and nothing about "Brownian Motion."

I was the only one in that long line at home depot without a mask. I must have looked like the weirdo. I could only imagine the feds in hazmat suits swooping in for the bust!

I make them. The process is a little involved and includes some hardware, a little machining and a very thin plastic material that won’t crease when crushed. Here’s some information about commercially available masks with exhalation valves, though.

https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/personal-protective-equipment-infection-control/n95-respirators-and-surgical-masks-face-masks
[Excerpt...caution:]
“Note that N95 respirators with exhalation valves should not be used when sterile conditions are needed.” [Because they’re really designed for industrial use—not for medical workers.]

https://www.honeywell.com/en-us/newsroom/news/2020/03/n95-masks-explained

I’m guessing that small, light ball valves in very short tubes could be made and used as an alternative. They would make a sinister clicking noise between exhales and inhales. ;)

Wearing a mask to stop a virus is like putting up a chain link fence to stop mosquitoes.

Do not mistreat your fellow citizens because they don’t want to. That makes you obnoxious, and stupid.

He insults the mask wearers while telling them not to insult the non-mask wearers. And non-mask wearers tell mask wearers to respect their decision while abusing the mask wearers. It's ridiculous the kind of things that become a political statement.
