“Karens” are people who freak out when others are not following stupid rules like “keep your dog on a leash even when he is under control and there is nobody around”
We can only hope the VC is in touch with his lawyer and working on a lawsuit.
Yes, in this case, people should stop being busy-bodies. They were using some exercise equipment, not threatening to poison his dog.
There is a soft form of racism that is still pretty rampant.
For example — I don’t know if the woman in the park was racist. BUT, most people assume she said the guy was black because she thought that would make the police come quicker.
Which would not make her a racist — it would make the COPS racist. So in fact, at worst she was playing on the perception that most blacks have that cops are racist, and using it to her advantage.
This guy probably wouldn’t have reported white people; he saw blacks, and assumed they didn’t belong. He probably has “nothing against” black people, he probably has black friends, but he made an assumption based on skin color, and took an action he was not really authorized to take.
I’m not sure he’d be better off it he had called the management of the place either — if someone caught him doing it, he’d be the ‘white guy reporting black people for just living’. If you ARE going to take that kind of action, in today’s world, you need to get completely by yourself, and I would suggest an anonymous call.
The media has milked the COVID-19 virus for all it’s worth now the Minneapolis events open the door for their race baiting gig.
News flash white dog bites black dog in park film at 11:00 Trump may be the cause...............................................
This is a very skewed take on events. If you are such a snowflake that being asked politely to leash your dog is a threat you are far gone. The man did not offer to poison the dog; he called it to him & offered a treat. The woman was in no danger, the dog was in no danger. All she had to do was control her dog with a lead &/or walk away.
It sickens me as a women when men try and infantilize women and claim they are helpless & frightened and couldn’t possible act like an adult.
If you don’t want to follow the rules in a bird refuge you are not a freedom loving individual you are a boor and a bully asking for special treatment & ignoring the rights of others.
A normal person would have been ashamed having been caught breaking the rules and would have complied or left; not tried to put the other people in the wrong.
Condoning the woman’s behavior enables her just as giving into a toddler’s tantrum enables the next tantrum.
PS. Birds not on leash flush ground nesting birds, is that so hard to understand?
Maybe Karens are people who wade into an argument ignoring 1/2 the facts and accuse other people of being stupid.
Just because you aren’t a birdwatcher doesn’t mean it’s not a valid activity.
Just because the rules of the park inconvenience you doesn’t mean they are moot.
The reason we have laws about animals being off lead is because the owner can’t control a dog in situations that may come up suddenly.
There are places where that rule is lifted and everyone is on notice.
Don’t try and pretend every dog is obedience trained to the point where they won’t chase a chipmunk or bird that moves suddenly under their nose, or attack another dog that growls.
Ah, fair enough, I didnt have that detail about what was going on.
It was his business as an officer of the local Audubon Society.
Reporting is very skewed, I’m not surprised that parts of this story are hidden by the press in their zeal to create narrative. I had to dig yesterday because I thought there was more to the story.
Most shared space leases include a clause allowing termination if you annoy, harass or deliberately interfere with any permitted or legal conduct of any staff or other shared space user/client.
This, even if he did it to people of the same race as he, was *absolutely* a lease termination offense. One of the reasons shared workspaces are so popular these days is that loud annoying jackasses like this guy get booted fast.
Reporting on just about everything, everywhere, is complete crap except for a very small number of exceptions.
I’d like to see the clause in his commercial lease that they used to justify their action.
That’s one of the reasons FR is my main site. People often post the information that we don’t get from the news or a different angle to consider. It keeps me sharp.
Actually, no.
By order of the governor, all common area fitness centers are closed until at least June 1st.
The Black entrepreneurs and the landlord were recklessly endangering the other tenants.
All of them should be arrested and sued.
No, it still is. The most he should have done is reported it to WeWork staff and let them deal with it. He had *no* authority or backing to go in there, ***demand papers upon threat of calling the police***, or do anything else.
Whether the people he was accosting were violating what is a questionably constitutional governor’s order is another matter entirely.
Absolutely.
Then the white guy should have been arrested and sued as well, since he was also in the gym.
Did I? Or did I merely note that the rule about dogs on a leash is a government edict? And that the term “karen” does not apply to people who break the rules, but the people who report people who break the rules.
There is no indication this woman was accusing the bird-watcher of breaking any ordinances. Her “crime” was calling 911 because she thought he threatened to poison her dog. A “karen’ might have called police if a bird person was feeding birds in a location where it said “no feeding the birds”, or eating a candy bar in a place that said “no food or drink allowed”.
As a birdwatcher, whose wife was an avid birdwatcher, I have some vague notion that birdwatching is an actual thing, and that birds don’t really like dogs whether they are on leashes or not. (although the dog on the leash isn’t going to chase after them, being on a leash and all).
