Last Night We Saw Why Americans Own 16+ Million AR-15s
Breitbart ^ | May 31 2020 | AWR HAWKINS

As televisions and computers showed a fourth day of protesters turned rioters Saturday, looting and destroying property, it was readily apparent why Americans own 16+ million AR-15s.

When Robert ‘Beto’ O’Rourke was still vying for the Democrat nomination–and pledging to come take away your AR-15–Breitbart News spoke with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) about what a Herculean task that would be. After all, the AR-15 is the most popular rifle platform in America.

NSSF shared their calculations with Breitbart, showing an estimated 16= million privately owned AR-15s in the U.S.

That’s why you prep. Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

Waiting til the ball drops means you waited too long.

“Only” 16 million? I doubt that. Double, maybe. I’ve only got 3, myself. An AR10 and two AR15s. And a lower that I never got around to building.

I grew up in SoCal....

I have a childhood friend that still lives in Fullerton. He is a hunter...and we have hunted together...in SD.

I know my buddy has many gun's...I sold him one myself.

Just purchased an AR late last year. And I’m glad I did.

The corrupt liberal press is presenting this issue as if there are two groups... one that believes police officers should be able to murder citizens by putting a knee on their throats and the other group that that's against it.

That's nuts.

NO ONE believer murder is acceptable.

Cops don't believe that type of murder is acceptable. NO ONE DOES - NOT THE COPS - NOT CITIZENS. The liberal press is lying to project a moral equivalency that doesn't exist.

The liberal press is part of the reason we have this violence - they give cover to the looters. They protect the thugs who burn down our cities.

How dare they?

If you don't have a rider on your homeowners insurance, they don't pay a dime if YOUR HOME is burned down by 'protesters'... We would NOT even get the money to have the rubble - that WAS our home - hauled off.

I’ve had a stash of “supplies” handy since the purple-lipped banana peeling African Communist was installed in the White Hut, years ago. If you haven’t seen this crap coming, you haven’t paid sufficient attention.

As we’ve discovered with this COVID nonsense, there is much more to “life” than bodily threats. These bastards threaten their very being. It’s about time property was fully respected again, instead of being “eh, no big deal”. We’ve dumbed down inalienable rights to ONLY “the body”.

He cares nothing for the people of NY

Come on, that's not fair. Cuomo saved the New York Taxpayers Hundreds of Millions of Dollars by sending 10,000 seniors in Nursing Homes to their early death from the ChiCom FLu. The Taxpayers no longer have that financial burden. He should Win an Award for it /s

I still remember the 1970s when the AR-15 was not considered any good for anything. The gun writers said it was “Inaccurate”, whippy barrel, too small a caliber for deer hunting, had (gasp)) Plastic instead of wood.
No one wanted one (except me) and they did not sell well.

Then Mel Tappan began his Survival Rifle series in Guns and Ammo magazine, in which he lauded the AR-15 and other .223 rifles and suddenly everyone wanted one.

Wish I had back the two hundred rounds of M1-Carand ammo I burned up two weeks ago.

AR-15, hit one and he drops.
M1 Garand, hit one-two-three with one shot.

“The fallback position is a .30-30 and a few shotguns will have to do.”

I think for this kind of situation a .30-30 lever action is a fine choice.

7.62x39 is unobtainium also. As I dislike the AR platform, I’m definitely an AK guy. All I found was one case of 1000 rounds. Only Fudds can find ammo these days. My roommate bought the last available box of 5.56 for his AR, but that was it. Wal mart, 3 little gun shops, a bass pro shop, and a major dealer 45 mins away. Academy was the only rounds anywhere and we got the last available ammunition.

And all these places were also cleaned out of guns too. A few Elmer fudd pieces was all. Anything worth fighting with was long gone.

None of the "black rifles" sold well in the '70s. AR-15 sales were also hurt by the fact that Colt was the only game in town and they kept prices high (thereby making the Ruger Mini-14 much more popular). As soon as Eagle Arms, Bushmaster and the other "clone" manufacturers jumped in, things changed quickly.

"I don’t have an AR..."

I don't either - got rid of it when my state mandated registration for ARs - replaced it with a real assault rifle - an M1 Garand.
