I don't want this to sound negative, but I'm not sure I understand the expectation. As a general rule, I expect soldiers to carry guns and use guns when needed. Will soldiers be allowed to shoot rioters? If not, then how will they maintain order? I'm trying to picture exactly how this plays out and how we get order restored but avoid Kent State.

Protesters, especially brought in, are intentionally spoiling for a confrontation. It puts the authorities on a razor edge between their duty under oath to the community and their instinct for self-preservation.
Police are hired, trained, equipped, paid (including their benefits), deployed at a tremendous expense to the very taxpayers and business owners who are now being targeted.
The MSM knows it. Do you think a single ‘journalist’ worth the name would have the common sense to also know and express what every citizen and public official already knows?
MSM will spin it as the gov’t. indiscriminately going after peaceful citizens, when in fact, the protesters are breaking the law. Each and every ‘protester’ can be should be apprehended and charged for several local and federal violations. There are many established laws on the books intended and expressly written to protect peaceful citizens from JUST such lawlessness.

We are already seeing the result of this masterful approach. There are governors and state AGs clamoring to legally challenge the President to stop him from doing something he doesn't want to do anyway.

The headlines the stooges and democrats are working for will happen. “Troops and or protesters shot because of Trump.” The left is praying for another Kent State. They’ll get their headline, they might even manufacture it like the false flag “bomber” in the Trump sticker van in 2018. I don’t think it will matter though. Even after Kent State and all the rioting, the law and order candidate won in a landslide in 1972.
Thinking water canons, stink bombs w/fluorescent paint, concussive waves, and a whole lot of paddy wagons. I like the idea of nets carried in by drones at the 4 corners but I’m not sure if the prototypes are ready.
On a more serious note if they shoot at the cops, throw bricks or fire bombs the cops shoot center mass and bring them down.
If a rioter attacks a person there to suppress the rioting and he happens to be armed, the rioter deserves to die in the dirt where he attacks . . . optics be damned. Nothing that Trump does, or any other law abiding citizen, will be acceptable to the Left and the media. Screw ‘em, and the horse they rode in on. They are attacking civilization, law-abiding citizens and our Constitution. They deserve a sure and abrupt end to life where they stand. Civilized protest is fine. Violence, destruction and looting is not.
I sure hope so. We need a few Kent States right about now. They work.
