Mayor Lori Lightfoot And Ald. Raymond Lopez Have Foul-Mouthed Argument Over Looting; ‘You’re 100% Full Of S***’ Mayor Says
CBS chicago ^

Posted on 06/09/2020 9:26:35 AM PDT by outpostinmass2

As looters were ransacking businesses throughout the city more than a week ago, Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Ald. Raymond Lopez (15th), one of her harshest critics, engaged in an angry and foul-mouthed argument over the city’s handling of the widespread violence.

During a conference call with all 50 aldermen on May 31 to discuss the city’s response to the looting, Lopez accused the mayor of being unprepared when looting spread from downtown to the neighborhoods that weekend. Looters pillaged shops throughout the city as peaceful protesters were taking to the streets on the last weekend “When downtown is in lockdown, our neighborhoods are next, and our failure to fully get ready for what’s going on in the neighborhoods, we’re seeing this destruction, and we’re thinking that it’s going to somehow end tonight. We have seen where, in other cities, this has gone on for days; and we need to come up with a better plan for days, at least for the next five days, to try and stabilize our communities,” Lopez said.

What the in name only Democratic Party has been doing in gerrymandering remapping has been singling out areas of various districts where it is dominated by a minority and create a single district out of it which not only disrupts those districts affected of getting civic services needs but pits one group against the other. An example of this is in what Chicago did here;

CHICAGO MIDWAY AIRPORT AREA HISTORY
HOW IDENTITY POLITICS WARD RE MAPPING DESTROYED THE COMMUNITIES WITHIN

That finger of Chicago’s border on its south side extending from 51st to 65th streets 4 miles further beyond Cicero Avenue to Harlem Avenue has a very interesting history. Post WWII during the 1950’s and 60’s the area mushroomed into dozens of single dwelling subdivions where thousands of of five and more room single 1 family units were built. After a struggle by residents including this writer the area managed to get the area remapped into one ward (23rd) and only one alderman needed to respond to their needs. Today the area has four alderman including the 12th, 13th, and 14th who’s wards are spread miles apart and the reason is political because the area was conservative The same rules apply to state and congressional districts

Yes, it is balkanization. The problem is that it only works when you are not in power. The democrats are an impossible coalition when they have real power because many of their special interests or identity politics constituents are fundamentally opposed to one another. They are a great opposition party, but they are a horrible governing party.

We have a bunch of wealthy older whites with power in the house of representatives who somehow think they can put on cultural apparel and kneel down and somehow they represent that cultural group when they have done NOTHING in reality to help them for decades. Can you imagine the media hysteria if a bunch of GOPe Senators put on scarves and knelt down? They would scream, yet none blinked an eye when a very wealthy privileged person from San Francisco appropriated cultural garb to somehow claim they represent them. They don’t and never can.

None of this works. They are fools to think they can ride this to power in November. Outside of leftist enclaves, this will not only kill them in swing districts, it will likely cause some major upsets in deep blue areas like NYC because they have now framed the election as law and order vs chaos.

The all-important suburban women vote is watching this and shaking their heads. The fence sitters are watching this and shaking their heads. Trump’s base was already very motivated and he has picked up voters with his performance. A significant portion of the black and latino vote will support Trump. A significant portion of union voters will vote with their wallets and support Trump. They cannot even get on the right side of the China issue!

The left is truly an entity where the radical 1% controls the 99% according to media coverage. You and I both know that principle looks good on television, but it sucks at the ballot box.

See post above.

The chaos and identity politics of the left only works as an opposition force. You cannot govern as an opposition party because your whole purpose is to “tear down the system.”

What will they replace it with?

Unicorns, rainbows, and ideas that have failed across the board every time they have been implemented.

The Bongino interview with Dinesh D’Souza on youtube from Friday is worth a listen. He talks about the brown shirts and the black shirts and the historical precedent for what we are witnessing.

If they keep the violence up and continue to tie the hands of the cops this will happen in each ethnic neighborhood. My uncle lived in a suburb of Detroit in 68 and the riots were getting closer and closer to his neighborhood and with a few blocks the men of the neighborhood grabbed their rifles, shotguns and pistols and gathered at that bottleneck bridge to fight it out and the cops told them go home. They all refused and told the cops you deal with them to this bridge, when they try to cross we will deal with them. They stood their ground and the cops stopped them about 2-3 blocks away.

My brother and I were armed up with an AR, AK , pistols at my Dads small business and shotgun Sunday evening when a protest went on in our small town. It was quite but we prepared just in case.

Cicero is not 5 miles from Chicago, it’s right next to Chicago. I grew up in Cicero, near Sportsman’s Racetrack.

“Maybe you should come out and see what’s going on.”

While trading insults, he should have added "...And I'll provide a step-stool for you..."

Wikipedia:

Marvel Comics
First appearance:
Tales to Astonish #13 (November 1960)

Maybe a year or two before my reading time, but I ended up a Detective Comics reader, at least until they went overly left “out of social concern” or whatever it was called, say c. 1971.

“Cicero is not 5 miles from Chicago, it’s right next to Chicago.”

Okay, I believe you. So, in your opinion, what will happen to the BLM racists and Antifa commies when they attack Cicero?

I’m hearing the roads into Cicero are blocked, and heavily armed Mexicans are manning the perimeter.

The black aldermen were equally concerned, but Beetlejuice wasn’t rude to them.

Still, they are seeing they are screwed. Time for a Chi-town revolt.

Will Lightfoot lose votes, in 2023, because of what she did, within the past three months?

Yes. But how much depends on who runs against her. You can't beat somebody with nobody. It takes more than a Bernard Epton to beat a Harold Washington.
