Half the country would die on a hot Tennessee summer day that often hits 95.
Humidity is the objective answer, familiarity the subjective. Temperatures like this aren’t rare in a UK summer, just uncommon.
Also spent a tour in Berlin, 84-88. I was an air traffic controller working in Berlin Center. Big unit at Tempelhof was the 6912th. Army also had a very large intel presence there.
Forgot to mention, my wife and I went to Bad Durkheim several times. Put the Oktober Fest to shame.
I been to Berlin/Templehof several times!
The 6912th was part of the 690ESG, I helped close them all. Went to the ceremonies, too.
Plenty of evenings spent in the Templehof bowling alley drinking kindel bier until bedtime.
Also, I helped close our small USAF ESC unit at Tuefelberg.
Did you by any chance visit the Berlin Air Route Traffic Control Center (BARTCC)? Worked there for 2 years then was the Chief Controller of Tempelhof Tower for 2 years. There was never an assignment like Berlin!
