Rumors Swirl: Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas May Retire
Breitbart ^ | 07/01/20 | Joel Pollak

Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas may be planning to retire soon, according to rumors in the media Wednesday.

Robert Costa reported in the Washington Post that the Trump administration was preparing for the possible retirement of Justice Clarence Thomas:

Justice Clarence Thomas, a conservative appointed by George H.W. Bush, is privately seen by Trump’s aides as the most likely to retire this year. While Thomas has not given any indication of doing so, the White House and Senate Republicans are quietly preparing for a possible opening, according to a White House official and two outside Trump political advisers who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the private conversations.

In response to that article, Hugh Hewitt stated on the Hugh Hewitt Show that he did not believe Thomas would retire, but that he had been told Alito was considering retirement.

Hewitt said, as the Washington Examiner reported:

Hewitt suggested he learned this rumor when “people begin working the refs” this time of year.

“I’m hardly a ref, but I got a column in the Washington Post, and so they start working me about, ‘You know this person would be great if Alito quit,'” he said.

Thomas is 72 and Alito is 70 years old.

In addition, liberal justices Justices Stephen Breyer (81) and Ruth Bader Ginsburg (87) are considered candidates for retirement.

Therefore, it is possible that whoever is president for the next four years could have the opportunity to make four Supreme Court appointments.

WAPO CRAPPO.

Let’s start a rumor, Roberts, Kagan, Sotomayor, Ginsbooger are booking a dirt nap vacay at gitmo following a touchy-feely ‘listening tour’ in Wuhan.

May be. But God’s view is what counts
And He has no distinction between Jews or Gentiles, man or woman, slave or free in this dispensation of the GRACE of God. She can think of do anything she wants, but she still has a day appointed to stand before Him with His Reconciliation Book open. The FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST is the ONLY way to be included in that book. Of life.

We can't win for losing. Their judges stay on into their late 80's, ours retire at 70/72????

“RBG is clinging to her job, cause when she finally dies, she has a good idea what is waiting for her.”

At an interview she was asked about retirement. She sounded derisive when she answered with something along the lines of, “Just who do you think could could replace me?” The interviewer should have followed up to expose her colossal ego. Instead, he moved on to another, unrelated question.

These two justices would step aside now for younger men in the interest of saving the country. Heroes can wear robes too.

“its a lie the dems dreamed up to fire up the pro-baby-killing folks in prep for the election. MUST KILL BABIES!”

Don’t know about the killing babies part but I think this is definitely bs and meant to fire up the sagging lib base with the idea thy will get 2 USSC appointments.

While i could see us having trouble replacing either of the two liberals at this point, I don’t think the republicans in the senate now would balk at a solid conservative replacing either Thomas or Alito, as it would not change the balance of power.

We got Kennedy replaced this quickly.

LOL! Watch them. Voting to confirm a new Supreme Court justice weeks before the election would kill any chances McSally, Collins, and Gardner have for reelection. The politics could cost the GOP in other areas as well; McConnell sat on a seat for months to deny Obama an appointment in an election year so the hypocrisy of filling these would create an incredible political storm.

We got Kennedy replaced this quickly.

Kennedy wasn't replaced in a presidential election year.

I have information from a very reliable resource that news of retirement for Justice Thomas is fake news.

Alito and Thomas were home runs, so Repubs have to think that way again.

This is either a GOP get out the vote initiative, or a DNC get out the vote initiative.
