NPR: “Mounting Evidence” Suggests COVID Not As Deadly as Thought. Did the Experts Fail Again?
NPR ^ | July 3, 2020 | NPR

A new NPR report suggests the global response to COVID-19 may have been reached on a flawed premise.

Mounting evidence suggests the coronavirus is more common and less deadly than it first appeared.

The evidence comes from tests that detect antibodies to the coronavirus in a person's blood rather than the virus itself.

The tests are finding large numbers of people in the US who were infected but never became seriously ill. And when these mild infections are included in coronavirus statistics, the virus appears less dangerous.

"The current best estimates for the infection fatality risk are between 0.5% and 1%," says Caitlin Rivers, an epidemiologist at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security.

That's in contrast with death rates of 5% or more based on calculations that included only people who got sick enough to be diagnosed with tests that detect the presence of virus in a person's body.

Many people will recall the fatality risk debate that took place prior to and in the early stages of the lockdowns. There was much discussion over how deadly the virus was and what the collective response to the virus should be.

It could be round 2 of driving large donors to republicans out of business.

First (that we know of) was the closing of all republican owned Chrysler dealers.

The majority of restaurant and hotel owners are probably republicans.

Once a lot of them are bankrupted, mission accomplished.

The average middle class person can't donate the kind of money successful businesspeople can.

The experts certainly did not fail. They got what they wanted, a suspension of the Constitution and the First Amendment which will now be in part permanent. The principle is established that if an emergency is proclaimed for any reason or perhaps for no reason, rule by decree becomes Law.

Every stupid Republican Governor who re-locked down their states and issued statewide mask edicts should stand up and say, “Enough! Take off those stupid masks and get back to work!”

Actually not that honest at all. The rate of fatality is about 0.1%. And the rate has changed dramatically. The death rate was far higher 3 months ago than it is now. We now know that ventilators are not a good procedure for patients. Mostly because they force patients to stay on their back. And they prohibit deep breathing. There are also several drug therapies that, while not curing the virus, greatly reduce the fatality rate. Like it or not, Hydroxychloroquine has been shown to be between 50% to 80% effective at stopping fatalities if patents start taking the drug as symptoms start. This study is from the Henry Ford Research Center and has been peer reviewed extensively with over 2500 cases.

Our current group of new cases are mostly coming from Mexico and South America. Nobody wants to say that, because they are afraid that white and black people will shun Hispanics. Many of the people bringing the virus are actually expats looking to come back to the US for better health care, many are over 65. But the reality is that, if you don’t want to die from the virus its easy. Don’t smoke, lose weight, try a low carb diet to reduce diabetes. Take a drug therapy at the first sign of symptoms. And do breathing exercises. Stay off your back. And don’t let them put you on a ventilator for any reason.

Wnen they realize the lie has run its course, they are pretty good at being an “early changer” regarding coming to the truth. When the dust settles, they’ll be able to refer back to this article to show how fair and neutral they are.

And this article shows where we seem to be headed regarding the MSM vernacular ;)

Trump seems to be playing 4D chess with his understanding of timing. You have to ask yourself, with the death count plummeting in spite of the case count rising, and with events like the Memorial day at Lake in the Ozarks producing no more deaths, where will we be by election day?

NPR is playing this smart.

A new NPR report suggests the global response to COVID-19 may have been reached on a flawed premise.

Yes the premise is flawed but not for the reasons NPR gives. The premise is to instill fear in the public and tell them to cower in the closet with their mask on. All this to destroy the last of the free economies and usher in command and control economies and world governance.

Once again NPR deceiving the public by misstating the premise.

Wow! Looks like the lisping recipients of that $20M taxpayer gift from Congress - not one of them out of work for so much as a day - have finally had enough of their gay bath-houses being closed down!

Well, DUH!

I am sure this just snuck thru and will be recanted and the reporter fired within days if not hours.

Or is the beginning of justification for suspending the Bill of Rights For whatever ‘demic comes along, swine flu or seasonal flu. It can be an annual operation that can easily stretch out to the whole year every year.

Remember what the Biden Campaign says, anyone can do a better job than Trump with a disease.

Never mind plenty of things Biden opposed earlier this year.

This will be used against president trump

______________________________________________

I’m not so sure. The main talking point that Leftists like to bring up is Trump referring to the pandemic as a “Hoax”. It’s tough to accuse him of not taking it seriously and taking it too seriously at the same time.

I think the Left will double down on Trump being to “slow and flippant”. To go the other way will probably blow up in their faces.

“””Whoa, honest reporting from NPR?”””

No way NPR would honestly report.

NPR’s reporting is purposely slanted to the Left. Maybe others will weigh in as to NPR’s political agenda is behind this report.

At some point, the leftist narrative will do a 180, with the talking point being: "Donald Trump never had a handle on the situation. He overreacted, shutting down the economy and putting millions out of work when it wasn't necessary."

The Dems are already running commercials about how President Trump "mishandled" the crisis, which Nancy Pelosi has been bleating about for some time. This was obviously their plan from the start. No matter HOW he handled it, they would saturate the media with propaganda about how he "mishandled" it. These people have absolutely no "truth" about them at all. EVERYTHING they do now is spin. They have gone from being an irritant to being a menace, and they must be SOUNDLY defeated.

“””I’ll bet the dam is cracking, liberals can’t keep this kind of narrativ”””

The Leftist dam never cracks. They just make up a new crisis about something else.

Ric's reply to CNN...love this guy!

A surprising new study found that the controversial antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine helped Covid-19 patients better survive in the hospital.https://t.co/j6zs4SI2Su— CNN (@CNN) July 3, 2020

So fewer people died because they took the drug @realDonaldTrump suggested....

Thank you, POTUS for doing the right thing even in the face of a DC culture attacking you no matter what you do. https://t.co/AKh7siYqNb— Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell) July 3, 2020

A very real question should be asked by real journalists:

Did some US media outlets encourage people to NOT take a drug that could have saved their lives- all because they hate Trump? https://t.co/QiSiXwQpmr— Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell) July 3, 2020
