A group of Ohio agencies on Monday released detailed, localized data on a suicide crisis that has intensified throughout the 21st century and which experts fear could be exacerbated by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic...
Suicide deaths have risen precipitously in Ohio, increasing by 34 percent over the 10 years from 2009 to 2018. Nearly five people die by suicide every day in Ohio, and men account for almost four out of every five suicide deaths, the study says.
The data is particularly notable amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Cleveland Clinic reported a concerning drop in suicide-related emergency room visits once the pandemic struck, and healthcare experts have raised alarms that prolonged periods of isolation and rising unemployment could lead to a long-term mental health crisis...The coronavirus could also increase the risk for older Ohio residents, who already account for the largest share of the states deaths by suicide. Individuals in those older demographics may be more isolated because they are also considered high-risk for developing severe symptoms if theyre infected with the coronavirus, experts said.
We know theyve got the highest rate of death by suicide, and theyre pretty much sitting in the bullseye for the coronavirus, said Joan Englund, the executive director of the Mental Health & Addiction Advocacy Coalition. Now they are forced to isolate, and in many cases, stay away from families and friends.

“I hope the next health director that Ohio hires is able to appreciate how hard Amy Acton’s reaction to coronavirus has been on people.”
Uh, no. DeWine selects the health director? DeWine, the guy that talked about the monster out there?
I’d like to see statistics by age and race. It’s been about 10 years since the anti-whiteness craze came into vogue, and I’m wondering if it’s having an effect on the mental stability of young white people. When you tell young people that they are something horrible - racists - and that there is nothing they can ever do about it, it might push the psychologically vulnerable over the edge.
Watch them classify some of the deaths as CV-19 related.
I’m pretty sure this is true of most states.
Single people, relying on their jobs income, living hand to mouth are going to have problems justifying their own existence.
This is why doctors are referring to this event as a Mass Casualty Event, not because of the virus...but because of the shut-downs.
Dying together, separately. Where’s the t-shirt?
I believe the despair out there is vast.
One of my wife’s former colleagues decided to end it a few weeks back. Between Covid-19, job loss, and possible alcoholism, it was too much. He was 42.
We have a major need of mental assistance for people all over. These types of issues can create madmen over night.
About a week ago a guy in Cobb County, GA went ballistic having lost his wife weeks prior and started shooting people with an AR15. He was “suicided by cop” eventually but this is happening all over in our society.
Yes, it could.
Little green men could land in your backyard.

Your theory about anti-whiteness going mainstream is something I’ve seen for years. I recall even 15 years ago being in a Target store. It was Back to School Sales Month.
There were posters all over the store. Most of the posters showed girls getting new clothes, as if it was understood that only girls enjoyed going to school. A few showed young black or hispanic men.
Almost no poster showed young white men. The two that did showed a young white guy, photographed with a girls extended arm covering his face. So he didn’t even get that much of a display. I recall back then, thinking kids will need their parents support more than ever, because the society was trying to ‘disappear’ them from our eyes, from our minds even. Advertising themes can go pretty deep when you think about it. Most people do not really think about it.

Thanks, for posting this: Id like to see statistics by age and race.
When the left promotes its anti-white racism, it thinks it is talking to old white men wearing MAGA hats. But they are also talking to young people who are struggling to make it in a world that is increasingly and openly hostile to them. There MUST be a negative psychological impact.
I read that the rise in calls to Suicide Prevention lines was enormous. And several major athletes and well known people came forward about mental health struggles about social isolation.
Even my doctor at cedars told me he’s seeing many people struggling.
Nope, we aren't to discuss the elephant in the room. Just focus on virtue signaling and not killing grandma. It doesn't matter that even today W.H.O. (changing its position again) is admitting the lock downs are unnecessary. Apparently, this collateral damage by tyrants is acceptable since a tyrants ends always justifies their means to their absolute power.
Ohio’s suicide rate is high, but the numbers are still small.
The average suicide rate in the USA is 1 per 10,000.
In Ohio, the rate is 1.6 per 10,000.
For healthy adults, suicides usually fall into one of three categories:
(1) Schizophrenia or clinical depression
(2) Drug or alcohol addiction
(3) Family history of suicide
For teenagers:
(1) It is usually impulsive and often follows a serious emotional event
For the elderly:
(1) The death of a spouse or close companion
(2) Intractable health issues
Bottom Line:
99% of human beings do not want to die for ANY reason.
I’ve had the suicidal tendencies for who knows how long. I know it’s temporary and will pass.
When I went gluten free, most of that went away. The dull aches in my head dropped way down. The new migraine medicines I am on helps a lot.
I can handle isolation. People person I never was. Quiet is so nice.
Could? Could? That’s crystal ball reading it’s NOT news...
