Under the new rule, foreign nationals enrolled in U.S. educational institutions will have to leave the country unless part of their course load this fall is taken in-person.
The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) had allowed for foreign students to take their spring and summer 2020 courses online while remaining in the United States, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
SEVP, the institution that sets the rules for student visas, is run by ICE, which is generally dedicated to immigration enforcement.
In its announcement, SEVP said foreign students who do not transfer to in-person programs and remain in the United States while enrolled in online courses could face "immigration consequences including, but not limited to, the initiation of removal proceedings."

makes sense.....................................
This is going to get interesting. Let’s see if its actually e forced.
Democrats are in a conundrum now...do they deport the students or do they do away with online-only schooling this fall (which they planned on using to hurt Trump in the election).
Is it though? International students around me spend a lot of money & they are in general very good rent payers.
At least a half-dozen of my neighbors here are Chinese Ph.D students (and are very nice). I wonder how this would affect them.
Ill see your online and raise you a deportation.
If schools go to online only can they still charge some students out of state rates?
And why dont illegal aliens have to pay out of state rates if they are not US citizens?

Now, for the record, I am not anti immigration. I want good immigrants. This is not an immigration program.
Winning! More please.

The imported commies have to go.
No doubt some resistance judge will try to mess with this.

So theyre very nice spies. Kick them out.

President Trump should sign an Executive Order to remove all Visa holders who are taking online classes from the United States.
Immediately. No reason to be here.
This is great news! The Democrats want to keep the schools closed through the elections and use it as an excuse for mail in ballots. The Universities rely heavily on foreign students for their revenue so they will want to be open. I suspect if foreign students are deported they will attend school back in their home country. This will result in American Universities losing a significant portion of their income. If this is enforced, somebody looses and both parties deserve it.
Says the ignorant FReeper.
Harvard has stated that the tuition will still be $50,000 per semester. I wonder how many parents will go along with that? Why not $100,000 per semester? Why not just mailing in the diploma with the correspondence course?
Fascinating strategic move.
Do you expect spies to be mean and nasty Dr. Evil types?
Lurker’s right (Oh my God, pigs just flew past my window). These Chinese students are getting top-notch education and then going back to their home Communist country to use it against us. They’re not learning about gender-studies like our students is.
