Any policy towards illegals must - MUST - address the incentives that are set up by that policy. Are you incentivizing more to try their hand at illegal entry or are you incentivizing them to stay home and apply through the legal process?

With 600 million people south of our porous non-existent southern border and untold millions outside the Americas who might also avail themselves of this easy access, there can be only one immigration policy -

Stop giving prizes

for illegal entry.

Any measure that permits those who entered illegally to benefit from that illegal act is amnesty. And any amnesty will bring millions more invaders.

This must be stopped.

This is what it takes:

   1. Secure the border in a transparently verifiable way;

   2. End the anchor-baby interpretation of the 14th Amendment;

   3. Enforce E-Verify without exception and with severe penalties;

   4. End chain migration. Entry per individual qualifications, not family ties;

   5. Deportation upon contact with any law enforcement agency - federal, state, or local;

   6. No government benefits beyond critical emergency care (and that ought to be billed back to the home government);

   7. No "Path to Citizenship" - EVER - for anyone who has entered the US illegally.

Any measure which does not accomplish these things is unacceptable. It is de facto amnesty. And it will inevitably, ineluctably encourage millions and millions more illegal entries.

Trump was doing a good job of ticking his way through this list. Then Kushner happened ....

In 2015-2016, Candidate Trump said DACA was WRONG but because some DACA applicants were brought here as children and grew up here speaking English like regular Americans, looking as American as any legal American, often more patriotic, through no fault of their own were brought here, often not speaking Spanish fluently if at all, having no real country to ‘return to’, Candidate Trump said returning DACA applicants was easier said than done and so the whole question of how to deal with DACA would have to be handled on a CASE-BY-CASE basis.

Makes perfect sense to me.

We learned there were liars within the DACA pool of applicants. But we learned there were good people too who genuinely love America.

Obama the Marxist Snake signed an executive order landing us all a big mass of confusion of which President Trump has worked to clear up.

One of the first things President Trump did was to end DACA. That meant no NEW DACA APPLICATIONS would be accepted. It also meant reviewing existing applications. The numbers of applications already received were reported to be on the order of 800,000.

That’s a helluva lot of applications to review and investigate.

So POTUS ends the Snake’s DACA Executive Order and of course, his termination of said order is immediately challenged in court of which the dumba$$ US Supreme Court decides he didn’t cross his t’s or dot his i’s properly or otherwise wipe his a$$ to their liking.

Give me an effing break.

So now POTUS is redoing the termination of the DACA Executive Order and the question is what do you do with the select few DACA applicants who appear as American as any red-blooded American?

At the same time how do you assuage the a$$wipes in SCOTUS and diffuse, rankle, brain-scramble the Democrat dumba$$es and their lapdogs in the GOP-e?

Why of course, you announce a ‘Pathway to Citizenship ‘!

Absolutely - he and his wife have done all they can to pull the administration leftward, immigration being a top priority.

Other Republicans tried the hispandering route, it didn't seem to do them any good. It wins over almost no Hispanics (who can already get DACA and amnesty from Democrats) while alienating conservatives who vote Republican because they want something done about mass immigration.
