Thats a huge fire. Fox News is saying something about a welding accident.
Why are there only two firefighting boats??
I expect all the people laughing about how the Russians and Chinese have recently lost (at least until/unless repairs are effected) a carrier to fire in port and how it proves how bad they are compared to the USN to STFU now that we’ve essentially just done the same thing - amphib assault ships like the Bonhomme Richard are basically small carriers.
Accidents happen. “Idiot shipyard worker with a torch or welder” is not unique to one nation or another, nor does it prove superiority or inferiority.
Prayers for my shipmates on the BHR. Obviously, this was way beyond the abilities of the duty section fire parties. Watching the video, the fire has just spread. Thick black smoke now billowing from stbd aircraft elevator/hangar bay.
Nothing would surpruse me these days.
But I still think its like,y some kind of accident.
Smoke n Scan has video and audio too.

Fire looks huge.
It looks like millions in damage. Wonder if they will be able to salvage the ship.
So I am wondering, would the aircraft inside the hanger deck have been removed before re-fit? Maybe thats whats burning.
One of those (under construction) caught fire in April, damage said to be minor:
BLM or antifa?
This ship was shown in the movie Act of Valor.
Likely solvents and lubes and paints on the hangar deck.
Just out of routine maintenance, no ammo aboard. Very little fuel.
They were likely preparing to paint. And a ship that size requires a LOT of paint and cleaning solvents and primer.
All oil based. And highly volatile.
It was the Russians - emboldened by Trumps plan to pull troops out of Germany. /DeepState
I don’t know any details, but, other than our military is a microcosm of our society; plus Obama deliberately infiltrated our military leadership with leftist dissidents and weaklings, who went about changing codes, rules, and anything else they could sabotage (and STILL ARE), what the heck is going on with our suddenly clumsy, accident-prone Navy?
Well that sounds positive.
Various talking heads/airhead anchors are butchering the name “USS Bonhomme Richard” (ron-home bishard) and in one case referred to the amphibious assault ship as an “assault rifle ship”.
I think I recall a John Paul Jones ship with that name. (Maybe I’m wrong.)
