Dozens of Protesters Arrested, 3 NYPD Officers Injured Following Clashes on Brooklyn Bridge

People get arrested on the Brooklyn Bridge after about a dozen Black Lives Matter protesters briefly shut down the bridge in New York City, on July 15, 2020

At least three NYPD officers sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries after “Stop the Violence” marchers were met by counter-protesters as they marched across the Brooklyn Bridge.

The demonstrations started peacefully Wednesday morning as the large group marched toward the Brooklyn Bridge, where tensions started after about a dozen Black Lives Matter activists countered the march and briefly shut down the bridge, police said.

The clashes between pro-police and anti-police protesters ended with 37 people being arrested and several officers, including Chief of Department Terence Monahan, were left with injuries, ABC7 reported.

“Three officers violently attacked by protesters crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. The officers sustained serious injuries,” the NYPD wrote on Twitter, adding a video of the attack.

In the video, NYPD officers appear to be attempting an arrest on someone when a man rushes toward the officers and hits them several times with a large object that appears to be a walking cane.

“This is not peaceful protest, this will not be tolerated,” the department said. Monahan, who is the highest-ranking member of the department and joined the “Stop the Violence” march, is seen on one of the pictures with a bloodied face.

The NYPD released pictures of the officers that were injured following the clashes.

If they defund and then disband the NYPD then who will enforce the deed on the guy in the demonstration who bought that Brooklyn Bridge?

Monahan has no one to blame but himself. Last month he knelt at a BLM protest. Everybody knows that’s not good enough. He should have kowtowed.

“This is not peaceful protest, this will not be tolerated”

Sure it will. The leftists that were arrested will be freed, apologized to and forgotten about the next day.

Maybe a peaceful BLM supporter. And it didn't really look like a "walking cane" -- the guy sprinted onto the scene carrying a 4-foot-long pole or stick and immediately began swinging.

Amusing photo at the top. It almost looks like a standoff between several dozen cops and one lone “protester”. Which sort of sums up our current situation.

"demonstrations started peacefully..."

Don't they always. As a matter of fact this particular little lie could be used in a lot of places:

"The robbery started peacefully when the robber asked the victim for a cigarette"

"The carjacking started peacefully as the carjacker asked directions..."

"The hijacking started peacefully as the passengers boarded the plane"

For crying out loud, this is a ressurection. What do you do with violent resurrectionists? You gun the bastards down. And not just the ones who happen to be giving you problems on the Brooklyn Bridge on day 51, or whatever it is since George Floyd was killed. You track them all down, especially the leaders, and apprehend them, if they’re willing to go peacefully. If not, YOU GUN THEM DOWN. End of ressurrection.

They call it a walking cane?
I thought it was a pole of some sort, it appears to have weight.
So has the stick/pole person been arrested or not?
Thanks for the anarchy, DeBlabbio.

It’s a “resurrection”?

You mean “insurrection.” Big difference.

Leftist mayors are responsible for this and need to pay the penalty.

When will Manhattan D.A. Cyrus Vance, Jr. cut them all loose like he did all the rioters?

“End of ressurrection.”

Insurrection is the word you are looking for, I believe.
