Windows is the best OS for non-programmers and for people not willing to spend the larger amounts for Apple OS.

Linux is my personal OS of choice, however, it is primarily for users who know how to configure, operate and code.

OS has poor backwards compatibility and is not possible to build custom h/w on it.

If you want a better one for the same price, then BSD or Linux is the choice, but then you need to know how to code
