Breaking: KY man who tackled Rand Paul sentenced to another 14 months confinement
Lexington Herald Leader ^ | July 27 | BY BILL ESTEP

The man who tackled Republican U.S. Sen. Rand Paul in 2017 in anger over Paul piling yard waste near their shared property line will serve another 14 months behind bars or on home detention.

A federal judge initially sentenced Rene Boucher to 30 days in jail for the attack, along with 100 hours of community service and a $10,000 fine.

Prosecutors argued that sentence was unreasonably light given Paul’s injuries, which included six broken ribs. Prosecutors won the right to try to get a longer sentence for Boucher.

U.S. District Judge Matthew F. Leitman imposed the additional punishment in a hearing Monday. He sentenced Boucher to another eight months in prison and six months on home confinement.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brad Shepard had sought at least 21 months for Boucher. He objected to the lower sentence and indicated the government may appeal.

Boucher’s attorney, Matthew J. Baker, argued that the initial sentence against him was appropriate and that imposing additional sanctions would improperly punish Boucher more than once for the same crime.

Good. If it was a Democrat Congressman you bet the assailant would get a year in prison.

Come on don’t be such a hard-ass, he only attacked a Republican, and didn’t even kill him.

Isn’t any sentence (either in jail or at home) over 12 months make him a prohibited person under the GCA of 1968? Hopefully so...liberals don’t need guns...they need lithium.

Wouldn’t it be just terrible if he was sent to a prison with sodomites?

Tackled? Assaulted is the correct term.

My Lowe’s’s and Home Depots have been out of treated deck wood for more than two months, you?

Am thinking that like the Fraud’s gov’t shutdown, we’re not supposed to be enjoying lying about at home in the summer.

If I were Rand Paul’s neighbor, I would cut his lawn, walk his dog, pick up his groceries - anything to leave him more time and energy to fight the leftist deep-state in Washington DC.

It was mostly peaceful.

Most of Paul’s ribs weren’t broken.

and six months on home confinement.

Big deal, I just served five months of home confinement and counting, and I wasn't even convicted of anything.

This is NOT why Paul was beat up.

I really despise how uninformative ALL media’s coverage of legal issues is. The prosecutor “won the right” to seek additional sentencing. Sounds like the judge was fixing to low ball the sentence and the DA appealed. If that’s what happened, it’s pretty rare that a court of appeal will determine that a sentence is so low as to constitute an abuse of discretion. Of course you wouldn’t learn any of that by reading the article

My neighbor and my BIL both have deck projects that are on hold because of the pressure treated lumber shortage.
I vaguely remember reading/hearing that the lumber plant (Michigan ) is in dire need of experienced help.

Prepare for a longer sentence comrade.
The ends justify the means.

Thanks, was able to find a lumber yard to sell me what I needed for more $$. Perhaps that’s why they still have some.

Fairly minor stuff, mostly repairs and updates.

At least I’m supplying the labor.
