I saw a Vietnamese study from 2011 of hundreds of flu patients in several hospitals. The virus spreads just like The Wuhan Red Death.
The study found 97% failure rate with cloth masks and 44% failure with medical masks in a hospital environment.
So were expected to blindly and stupidly believe that all the cool fashion masks will be perfectly effective in a completely uncontrolled environment. Asinine.
It will be interesting to see what the impact of masks will be on something like a strep throat outbreak at some schools.
Will more kids get strep, flu, or bronchitis because they are touching their faces more to adjust masks?
My cousin’s wife is a sewing-machine maniac. (Retired teacher, about 73 years old, and has always been a little insane.) She makes all sorts of stuff, from oven-mitts and hot pot holders, wall-hangings, and on and on, and gives all this stuff to the extended family. She has some talent, I sure couldn’t make the things she does, but some of it is pathetic, particularly the wall-hangings.
One of her favorite things to work with is denim from old blue jeans. She’s begun making masks these days, with the inner layer being denim. Talk about being almost impossible to breathe through? These masks fit that description. No covid will ever get through them, it all has to go around the outside edges with the rest of your breath.
