the media/dem complex is falling all over itself to prevent Basementman from making a fool of himself. My bet is that the Basementman campaign will call off the debates or try to impose some kind of pre-condition on them, knowing that Trump won’t comply, that way they can blame Trump for there being no debates.

I think the trick the media will ultimately pull, with regards to the debates, is a broadcast TIME DELAY. This will allow a crack editing team to edit the Biden gaffes.
You know, I’d have a bit more respect for these Never Trumpers if they were backing someone like Tom Hoefling (America’s Party), Don Blankenship (Constitution Party), or even Jo Jorgensen (Libertarian Party.) At least that’s a principled, limited-government position. But supporting Biden is a violation of every principle they claim to stand for.

This goes along with the leftist drivel I’ve seen today that Harris will trounce Pence in a debate. That would be the same Karmala Harris who always sounds fatigued and got obliterated by Tulsi Gabbard in one of the Dem debates. A lot of people forget that Mike Pence buried Tim Kaine using the very disarmning calm manner much the same as Dick Cheney did with John Edwards in 2004. i have no doubt that Pence will be equally effective against Harris.

This whole situation is rich with irony.
It is always the challenger who needs the debate - not the incumbent.
The debates level the playing field by giving the challenger equal status with the President.
Conversely, the debate setting and format tends to strip away the perquisites of the Presidency - reducing his status, putting the two candidates side by side, with identical podiums, equal time and equal deference.
Trump is already President and Biden is challenging him for the title. And in Biden’s particular case, a debate is even more important because his mental acuity has been questioned - the voters will want him to be vetted.
If this was the Heavyweight Boxing Championship and Trump held the title, just imagine the challenger, Biden, saying he wanted to cancel the fight.
What would the Champ say?
The champ doesn’t need to say anything - he remains champ by forfeit, until he is challenged and defeated.
Biden needs the debates - President Trump does not.
If I were the President I would make it 100% clear in public that I would debate whoever the Democrats’ nominate - but privately, I would hope
