The only reason for Biden to pick Harris would be to give Biden a chance in California.

The dems know that there is very little enthusiasm for their ticket. Their big hope is to stoke hatred of Trump/Pence to motivate their voters, and that is the direction the campaign will move in.
It must be frustrating for her to hear these things after the effort she put out.

Elections come down to enthusiasm for your candidate. As we learned in 2008 and 2012 it isn’t enough to hate your opponent, you have to really want to vote for your guy.
Trump is one of the most polarizing political figures in the past 100 years. It will be a case of is the left SO enraged as to vote for anyone. That hasn’t worked before - think Carter and Reagan, where the left hated Reagan like poison, but didn’t really like Jimmah.
