I supported Donalds in thaf congressional seat when he first ran for it several years ago, before he was elected to the state house. He has proven to be the real deal, and I hope that he wins tonight.
Really weird to see a 50 something man named "Kris" though. I knew a TON of guys named "Chris" when I went to school (note the difference in spelling, and I'm much younger than Mr. Kobach), but anyone named "Kris" was always a shortened form for girls named Kristin or Krista and so on (and I knew multiple girls nicknamed "Kris", but never any dudes). The only males named "Kris" tend to be the gay hairdresser types. It was even an inside joke in the movie It's Pat, where the gender ambiguous "Pat" has a significant other named "Kris"
I think that Dr. Leo Valentín moved from Puerto Rico to Orlando in 2018, so if his small lead (1.2%) holds up—supposedly 100% of precincts are in, but I’m sure that a lot of absentees will trickle in during the next couple of days—that would be an incredible accomplishment.
BTW, Puerto Ricans from Puerto Rico (as opposed to “Newyorricans”) who moved to Central Florida are swing voters, voting for GW Bush and Mel Martínez in 2004, Rubio in 2010 and 2016, and giving Ron DeSantis and (especially) Rick Scott enough votes to put them over the top in 2018. While the FL-07 does not have as many Puerto Rican voters as some other Central Florida congressional districts do, every little bit counts in a district that gave Romney 49.4% in 2012 and Trump 44.1% in 2016. With Valentín’s fundraising prowess and ability to connect with Hispanic (and, particularly, Puerto Rican) voters, he could mount a strong challenge to the execrable Stephanie Murphy.
I had assumed that Pat’s amorphous “significant other” (played by Dana Carvey IIRC) was named “Chris,” which could be short for Christopher or Christine.
And Kris Kobach is a big guy, so I don’t think anyone has ever told him to his face that he has a girl’s name.
Cat fight on twitter tonight. Rubio called Steve Schmidt a “political prostitute after Schmidt hit Rubio with a low blow about Cuba. Ha ha.
Update from FL-19: Byron Donalds is up by 0.69%, with 99% of precincts supposedly in; it’s been at 99% infor a while, and in any event there must be a lot of absentee votes coming in over the next few days. Keeping my fingers crossed for a Donalds victory.

Franklin is the one who I’d vote for but Spanos is good, too. If not for the scandal, my parents would be for Ross Spanos. Grady Judd, the Polk County Sheriff, endorsed Franklin.

I’m pulling for Valentin now- Murphy is just awful. I had a wonderful connection with Mica’s office for many years and hated to see him go. The redrawing of our district was a mess.
