There was an article a few years back about schools wanting to use bracelets to track students. They want to do this with everyone and cellphones make it way too easy for them, permission or not.
The daughter of a gal my son works with is in a private college up north and has the same tracking system. At this school she’s required to get two covid tests per week.
The app on her phone gives her the green light to enter buildings. Once she’s around someone who tested positive she’ll be blocked from access and quarantined.
Almost wish I went there. With some Android versions, you have developer options you can turn on and let you spoof GPS coordinates to your phone. This is Fer testing purposes, but it woild sure be fun to heleport around the world and back and see what the school thinks!
Worthless degrees from a worthless college. No thanks. Albion alumni should demand their tuition be returned with interest.
Bet they don’t require testing for all the hundreds of other visitors, such as UPS or FEDEX drivers, trash collectors, food vendors, fuel delivery, etc.
That should go over well.
You forgot Roy Cooper, NC.
I drove through the Syracuse University campus today.
All incoming dorms residents have to quarantine for 14 days in their rooms.
They are brought their meals, and are allowed on schedule to go outside to their designated place by their own designated path, to spend an hour outside each day, for 14 days.
I went past a gated athletic field and there were students sitting or standing in place, all socially distancing from each other, with other students, presumably, sitting in what looked like lifeguard chairs, keeping an eye on things to make sure nobody violated their orders.
It looked exactly like a prison, only worse, cause at least in a prison, the inmates could move around freely.
The first thing I thought was How are you do you like your gulag?
And they are paying big bucks to attend SU and be treated this way.
Its this sort of compliance, that they are even willing to pay to be treated like this, that makes me fear for our country.
So Michigan has suspended the US Constitution.
You think people may just leave their phone behind when they leave campus? Unless you chip the students, it will be pretty easy for them to circumvent this tracking system. Those in better financial shape will just have an extra phone that doesn’t have the app loaded on it.
Time for massive lawsuits — breach of contract. Destroy the school. The less leftist universities/colleges, the safer America will be.
Is she practicing for her next visit to her boy friend or girl friend (i.e., everything on her is PINK)?
I know a lot of Spring 2020 college grads (friends of my son who also just graduated).
And because of what you just described, NONE of them are going on to graduate school. Why go through all that? Some just decided not to go to grad school at all, some will apply for the following year.
My son hadn’t planned grad school anyway and considers himself lucky that he graduated “right in time” and doesn’t have to deal with any of this “online learning” and yes prison nonsense.
My heart breaks for the young adults in these situations. It truly sucks.
I have an awesome solution. Never, ever step foot on that campus again. Not one penny should they get from your pocket. Then tell your kids to go earn a living doing something decent with their hands and minds that doesn’t require a fake “certification of smartness” handed out from universities.
Horrible. I don't suppose that my alma mater is the only university imposing this madness.
The powers that be lock up young people trying to get an education, and paying $75-$80K for the privilege.
But the same powers are emptying prisons of violent criminals, all in the name to "keep us safe."
Time to buy a burner phone and leave your regular one at the dorm for the semester.
