Own Goal: The NBA does President Trump a favor; With enemies like this, who needs friends?

Smart move, bozos:

Get a load of this tweet:

Say what you will about the NBA, NHL, and MLB, but it was really thoughtful of them to clear the decks tonight so everyone could watch Trump's speech at the RNC instead of sports. — Sean Davis (@seanmdav) August 27, 2020

That's some sense of timing these millionaire wokesters have, refusing to play in the playoffs to protest a police incident in Kenosha, Wisconsin, just as President Trump was getting ready to make his big convention speech. The absence of playoffs meant that anyone with his television set on would no longer be on the horns of a dilemma by having to decide whether to watch the ball game or watch Trump. There was no ball game so ... there was just Trump.

President Trump, who had been facing low television ratings based on the possibility that Hurricane Laura would end all attention to the GOP convention, escaped not only that when the storm turned out to be less lethal than forecast, he also got an accommodating boost from the NBA which gracefully bowed out. That's quite a favor.

Here's the funny part: The NBA player who started this nonsense (and came crawling back when they learned their salaries were going to get cut as a result) had an explicit goal in this playoff strike - which was Getting Trump. LeBron James, who was one of the leaders of this genius move, explained his real aim for it: "Change starts in November."

All that Lebron and his buddies ended up with was an own-goal, clearing the decks for a bigger audience to watch Trump. Their aim was to Get Trump by punishing their fans with the aim of making them angry and making them therefore blame Trump. Instead, all they ended up doing was get more of them to watch Trump and listen intently to all 70 minutes of that Trump acceptance speech, describing the heroism of America and the odiousness of socialist Joe Biden, not having to flip channels between the playoffs and the politics.

It’s almost as if Trump is paying these guys.

I am no Chinaman, but sometimes it looks like President Trump has the “Mandate of Heaven”.

Hey, if true as Kamala says that these NBA guys showed monumental courage in the morning by opting out of the playoffs, I guess they are monumental cowards for flopping in the afternoon to resume play. Eh?

And wasn’t it odd, that they trotted out Kamala to make some response to Trump’s convention??? Rather than Joe Biden himself coming out of the basement to lead the charge???

Did they get paid?

As millionaires, they should donate their own money and time to homeless charities and food banks. Or the owners could.

Walking off a floor or field need not be free.

These Nothing But Aholes jerks think that we’re stuck in the 1850’s. They should tell their thug fans to stop thuggin and druggin.

Child support debt is huge among many of those fools...they can’t pay if they don’t play.

I follow the Rink of Dreams page on Facebook, and the fellow who is the founder/moderator there is very upset with the NHL’s virtue signaling about the Blake incident, as he served as a military policeman for many years. This is why YouTube and your own DVD/VHS collection of vintage hockey games, highlights, and fights are important to have now.

“Own Goal”
LOL at the morons in the NHL. They’re mostly foreigners complaining about the country that gives them money. Unlike the others they depend on ticket sales for most of their money. Well I’ve bought my last ticket.

Likely LeBrainless and his buddies watched to trash Trump and saw one of the most incredible nights ever. Some of the best speeches were blacks.

The teams of the NBA might be able to marginally survive, with the lack of fans in the arenas. But their saving ‘grace’ is the TV contract (pays $2.6-billion a year until 2024/2025 season). The TV networks? They are left standing there and allowing advertisers to pay discounted deals for advertising. They won’t say if there’s any profit left for them, but I would imagine that as you get close to 2023, and time to talk about the next contract....it’ll probably go for less than $1-billion a year. That’s the point where the NBA players start to fall over themselves.

See my post number 10, GMTA. I remember a hockey video dealer back in the late ‘90s, early 2000s would advertise a category of games he had as “Goal Fixes” by saying if you were bored with the neutral zone, clutch and grab nonsense of that time, he had a bunch of games that you could stuff your VCR (or later DVD player) that featured all sorts of crazy high scores from the high flying and scoring 1970s and early 80s, lol. Would still be a great way to escape the nonsense virtue signaling the NHL is joining in on now.

Basketball is the sport I love most, but I am really rooting for these morons to destroy the NBA and their million dollar meal ticket. Maybe if every young black isn’t consumed by their dream of being in the NBA, they might actually crack a book. Lebron has shown on more than one occasion that he only has a marginalized high school education.

Doesn’t this put the league at tremendous financial peril? Don’t they have contracts with ESPN or somebody? Of course, I guess ESPN would just let them get away with it.

RE: Lebron has shown on more than one occasion that he only has a marginalized high school education.

Well, he never went to college. Got drafted straight to the NBA from high school.
