he George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum opened seven years ago and anchors the southeastern corner of campus at Southern Methodist University, where I teach history. In late November 2016, I took a tour of the facility with five college friends who were visiting from the East Coast. The recent presidential election was much on our minds as we wandered through the building, contemplating various artifacts from Bushs two terms in office. Although we were hardly fans of his presidency, one of my palsfearful, like everyone in our group, of a Trump administrationgot misty-eyed when reflecting upon Bushs obvious love of country. After an hour or so, with a requisite stop for photos in the museums full-sized and perfectly appointed replica of the Oval Office, we left in glum moods.

Where does that put Carter?
NEVER! Even tough he did take out a lot of Muslims. He disrespected Donald Trump the Greatest POTUS of our time.
He couldn’t carry Trumps jock.
The morons at Texas Monthly can’t pick the best BBQ joints in Texas on an annual basis, much less figure out anything of this minor importance.
Is this the same ‘George Bush’ that stole the 4th amendment from America?
That George Bush?
Ya, no, too soon...
Bush's obvious love for the country, patriot, could joke with him, decent all the usual b.s.
All of these people are completely deaf and blind. Trump is THE VOICE of the American people. He is doing exactly what we hired him for and these people just can't get over the fact, that the election of Donald J. Trump was the biggest F.U., by 'We the People', to the establishment, ingrained authors, academia, etc. in modern history.
Bush and his sorry ass family wouldn't make a pimple on President Trump's tail. Left up to them, we'd be swimming in illegals poring over the border (in the name of love donchya know). Not to mention the following presidency of obama who had us in bed with OUR ENEMIES while snubbing our true allies. Lousy trade deals made by the last 3 administrations decimated our manufacturing base. All passed by these smiling, slimy maggots while spewing the same old 'it will be good for our economy' b.s.
The American people spoke in 2016 and we will SCREAM coming this November. Americans dialed 911 and Donald J. Trump answered the phone.
Uh, why should we? Their family voted for Hillary in 2016, proving their true colors are not as Republicans but as Globalists.
No, in historical Presidential rankings he’ll be looked at as a peer of Franklin Pierce.
Unless we are all mis-remembering, Bush seemed to be the right man for the times, especially given the Democrat alternative.

IOW, in 2016, the writer was still all moist about GWB, preferring GWB to Zero -- but preferring Hillary to Donald. What an a-hole the writer is.
As others have pointed out, this is the same, tired leftist ploy: the current Republican is always a fascist, a Nazi, a racist, and a moron, and he is always compared unfavorably to previous Republicans, who are presented as models of dignity and integrity. But those same previous Republicans were vilified as fascists, Nazis, racists, and morons when they were in office or running for office.
He folded like a cheap suit after Nancy and Harry took Congress. He really had no core belief like his dad. Very disappointed. At least he kept us from a Kerry presidency.
Nope.
I agree. Bush had no serious competition in the primaries; McCain being a distant second and an even worse choice. Bush didn't look that bad at the time, and even the China and Iraq decisions weren't obvious blunders. In hindsight though, huge blunders.
Bush also benefitted from running against two ridiculous Rat nominees, in Gore and Kerry. And he barely beat them.
Nope. Shrub is an idiot. Frodo. Get out the Bush’s! Jelp!... No better.
WHAT BS! The Bush family are GLOBALIST that have help to undermine the US and even back the enemy Anti-American lefties, then remain completely silent about the COUP attempt. They were the least of two evils, but far far far from good for America. The last three admins are completely responsible for the complete and utter destruction of the middle class and the great American sell-off to CHINA!
I can tell ya, no one, in my eyes, has fallen a farther distance than has George W. Bush from the days of September 11, 2001 to today. To me, I will always be grateful for W defeating that scum Al Gore and then, on 9/11, being the pillar of strength to draw a hurting nation together. . .but my disappointment in Bush and the Bush family is, plain and simple, the feeling of being betrayed.
9/11 still happened on Bush’s watch. As they say “The Buck Stops Here.”
