McConnell Statement On The Passing Of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (Trump's Nominee Will Get A Vote!)

The Senate and the nation mourn the sudden passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the conclusion of her extraordinary American life.

Justice Ginsburg overcame one personal challenge and professional barrier after another. She climbed from a modest Brooklyn upbringing to a seat on our nation’s highest court and into the pages of American history. Justice Ginsburg was thoroughly dedicated to the legal profession and to her 27 years of service on the Supreme Court. Her intelligence and determination earned her respect and admiration throughout the legal world, and indeed throughout the entire nation, which now grieves alongside her family, friends, and colleagues.

***

In the last midterm election before Justice Scalia’s death in 2016, Americans elected a Republican Senate majority because we pledged to check and balance the last days of a lame-duck president’s second term. We kept our promise. Since the 1880s, no Senate has confirmed an opposite-party president’s Supreme Court nominee in a presidential election year.

By contrast, Americans reelected our majority in 2016 and expanded it in 2018 because we pledged to work with President Trump and support his agenda, particularly his outstanding appointments to the federal judiciary. Once again, we will keep our promise.

President Trump’s nominee will receive a vote on the floor of the United States Senate.

Jones won’t. He’s going down and looking to the Demn plantation for his future.

Voting on the nomination can be a problem for many Senate Dems up for election this year though.

Liberals should’ve saved some of their riotous energy for this instead of blowing their wad on every violent felon that deserved to be shot by the cops. Now they’re threatening to riot if President Trump tries to push through RBG’s replacement. The rest of us roll our eyes, “Riot? Yes, we know you will. So what else is new?”

The reason the Dems did not press for a replacement for Justice Scalia at the end of Obumer’s second term was the same reason they left all those Federal Judge slots unfilled, because they were were certain that Hitlery was going to win the election. This is absolutely the reason and it backfired on them.

The Senate and the nation mourn...

I don't know about that, I'm gonna' crack a cold one and breath a big sigh of relief myself.

On another thread a Freeper noted that it would be great to leave the SC @ 5 conservative and 3 liberal. It would be very advantageous in case the SC is needed to settle any “election issues” that might arise.

Exactly! We can lose mjrkowski, Collins, and Romney. It’s then a 50 50 tie and Pence casts the deciding vote. We can’t lose any others. I don’t see that happening. They know this is for all the marbles and the democrats have gone full crazy left and will end the filibuster and ram through their agenda if they win. The Supreme Court will be the only thing to stop them. All the rest will vote with Mitch McConnell. Bank on it.

it’s critical to fill this slot before the election, or otherwise it will motivate leftists to vote in droves ...
