Communist regime flooded social media with fake videos and bots to whip up COVID hysteria.
Researcher and attorney Michael P. Senger suggests that the Chinese government launched an aggressive propaganda campaign to exaggerate the severity of coronavirus in order to force the rest of the world into a draconian lockdown that would serve to benefit Beijing.
In an article for Tablet Magazine, Senger details how in late January, “international COVID-19 hysteria began” with a series of suspicious videos posted to social media sites showing people in China suddenly collapsing on the streets, including one instance where a man held out his arm to break his fall, suggesting the collapse was staged.
After tens of millions of people were confined to their homes during one of the most brutally enforced lockdowns in history, Senger notes how in February the CCP “reported an exponential decline in coronavirus cases, until March 19 when they announced their lockdown had eliminated domestic cases entirely.”
China has officially recorded just 4,634 deaths from coronavirus, despite having a population almost five times larger than the United States, where the current death toll stands at over 205,000.
The World Health Organization and other scientific experts then waxed lyrical about China’s response to COVID-19, which is what led to virtually every other country on the planet mirroring its approach.
However, Senger argues that the initial hysteria over COVID and lockdown that followed could have been a carefully orchestrated Chinese propaganda campaign to hoodwink its hegemonic competitors into destroying their own economies in response to a virus with a relatively low fatality rate.
The researcher documents how armies of Chinese bot accounts on Twitter were instrumental in promoting early lockdowns in countries like Italy while bombarding political figures who refused to order strict lockdowns

China is now open for business while most of the rest of the world shuts down.
They locked down China, while allowing Chinese to fly all over the world.
Sweden refused to lock down and the country is fine.

I am of the belief that there may be posters on this site who are Chinese assets, although they also may just be stupid.
When the virus hit our shores I asked where are the people collapsing in the streets? Where are the crowded emergency rooms teeming with Covid zombies? When I suggested that the stories of welding doors shut in China were lies, people here posted links to the videos. But what were we actually seeing? Did people inside actually have Covid? When were the videos made? Were they all staged?
It’s been obvious for a long time that regardless of the true origin of Covid-19 the info streaming out of China in the early days was disinformation. The whole fiasco was like something SPECTRE would hatch in a James Bond novel.
I think the initial release of the virus was an accident and the CCP freaked out and overreacted on their response, not certain how deadly the strain was that had escaped. As they realized it was controllable, they re-opened rather quickly - but didn’t bother sharing details about the virus’s true lethality with the world (Trump has complained about this very point) and let the West engage in a vast collective freakout.
They may have hoped to profit from the overreaction, but the abysmal relationship they now have with the rest of the world probably wasn’t what they had in mind. They desperately need Trump out of the way and the Deep State operatives re-empowered, or they are facing a decades-long setback.
The initial lockdown should have been comprehensive and no longer than 14 days.

Yep. BUT there are some of us that believe the RATs colluded with the CCP on a planned release date, then deliberately locked out millions of the “unwashed masses” from being able to use HCQ in the fight to get the numbers as high as possible. IF this is true and can be proven, there are a whole bunch of folks that need to be hanged....publicly.
The CCP was likely aware their lockdown approach would weaken the Chinese economy. The real reason for the lockdowns was to end a growing dissident movement.

I believe that China wages a committed information campaign to maximize the benefit of the virus they released on the world for themselves. Disinformation can be both downplaying the virus or exaggerating its effects, depending on the goal desired.
1) China still wants absolute world dominance in manufacturing and trade.
2) China sees idiot Democrats in America as useful to that end and is “participating” in this election with the virus and on other fronts.
3) The Italians weren’t “faking it”. The virus is real. It can, and will, kill many people, and China doesn’t care.
4) Trump would be a one-term President had he attempted to place his “economy” ahead of the American People. It wouldn’t have worked, anyway, and he would be packing, now.
5) The only antidote for disinformation is information. This site appears fully opposed to all rational discussion of this virus. This goes back to the original point.
Without the COVID hysteria and the resulting economic destruction, the Democrats had nothing to run on.

I don’t think it’s fully opposed, but there is a die hard cadre of Covid fearmongers. Some are germphobes, many are sheep. Some might have darker motivations.

I can fully understand those who have been impacted, hell, murdered economically by what has happened and is happening. I can’t understand for the life of me, however, how taking it out on Free Republic helps. Name-callers can’t seriously claim that they are trying to educate or communicate with people by calling them names, so are more obviously just venting.
There is, as you point out, a darker possibility, as well. China wants to resume its dominant trade status. This leads to irrational calls to return to “normal”, as if this attack had never happened. It would be a pre-Trump “normalcy”, too, with China firmly in charge. There are clearly supporters of this view, here, as well as the views you describe.
Name calling happens on both sides. I am very angry with the fools leading us to self destruction during this insanity, so yeah, I’ll call them names. Like fools.
