Officials from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) knocked down giant white letters spelling “TRUMP” on the hillside of someone’s private property on Tuesday, citing it as a “life and safety issue.”
“This was a life and safety issue because there were concerns about distracted driving,” Chief Public Information Officer for Caltrans Lauren Wonder said.

Yes. I saw a tweet from Harmeet Dhillon last night to that effect. She was asking the property owner to contact her.
Distracted driving? I see. So, there are no billboards or road sign anywhere else in CA? ... Their excuse is insulting in its transparency. This was political, pure and simple. The government employees who did this engaged in political activity while on government time. I believe that is against the law. Who ever ordered it should be fired.

They would not have destroyed a BIDEN sign (if any Biden supporters owned enough property to put up a sign. That makes their destruction of the sign illegal. I hope the property owner sues them and collects significant punitive damages.
Put the sign back up and surround it with armed citizens.

“File charges” is a figure of speech. One can complain to law enforcement, but it’s the District Attorney who “files charges.” Somehow I dont foresee that in this case
Was the land owner the person that put the sign up? Or have they been willing to admit that?
