“Fracking and coal are our lifeblood...”

Philadelphia is outside the fracking area of Pee-Ay and since it doesn’t *seem* to directly affect Philly-area voters they largely ignore the economic arguments for it. Or rather they are vulnerable to the ecological arguments made by the DNC.

The Supreme Court will have a say in this.

Yes, I am aware of the decision to not take a second look at the PA Supreme Court decision. It does NOT prevent the SC from taking another look at what PA does after election day.

PA is Philadelphia and Pittsburg, separated by Alabama.

Philadelphia has a few refineries in the area that provide a bunch of jobs.

Fracked natural gas liquids are pipelined to Marcus Hook, south of Philly. Some Delaware County and adjoining county folks are hopping mad at pipeline improvements and expansion, although the county is already criss-crossed by pipelines. The local democrat governments are among the unhappy.

Correct-and the only thing that is new and different this ‘go-around’ is the fact that they have repeatedly and unambiguously shown us their hand.

I don’t know if that is hubris, stupidity or just gratuitous defiance... but NOW they have everyone’s undivided attention!!

It should not have been tolerated for SO long.

“Philadelphia has a few refineries in the area that provide a bunch of jobs.”

The old Sunoco refinery burned down you may recall.

My point exactly. There is a disconnect between Philly area voters when it comes to the overall economic interests of the commonwealth. They just don’t ‘get it’.

Counting ballots at a secret location? I hope poll watchers from both political parties are allowed in to monitor this ballot count and to observe that the election workers follow state law on is or is not a valid ballot marked as required.

Read the article, they are going to announce the location on Sunday, probably for safety concerns. Poll watchers are always allowed to view counting, etc.

Cumberland County, Penn from wiki

For most of its history, Cumberland County has been a Republican Party stronghold in presidential elections, with only seven Democratic Party candidates having managed to win the county from 1888 to the present day. The most recent Democrat to win the county in a presidential election was Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964 as he won in a landslide statewide & nationally. As a testament to the county’s status as a Republican Party stronghold, Barack Obama in 2008 is the lone Democrat to win forty percent of the county’s votes since Johnson’s 1964 win.

Presidential election results
As of November 2008, there are 152,408 registered voters in Cumberland County.[15]

Republican: 78,568 (51.55%)
Democratic: 52,887 (34.70%)
Other Parties: 20,953 (13.75%)
The Republican Party has been dominant in Cumberland County politics since before the American Civil War, with the victories of Robert P. Casey for governor in 1990, Bob Casey Jr. for state treasurer in 2004 and Tom Wolf for governor in 2018 being among the few times where a statewide Democrat carried the county. The county commissioner majority, all row offices, and all legislative seats serving Cumberland are held by Republicans.

If Trump is leading PA at midnight, Cumberland County absentee ballots won’t matter.

You have me wrong. I’m not giving up. We can win the war without waging specific costly battles. If Republicans sink too many resources into one problem state like this, they divert efforts from more winnable states. We don’t need PA if we have the South and most of the swing states.

With Roberts on the court, I don’t think these arbitrary (open-ended?) extensions of ballot deadlines are going to be stopped. He has “Dr.” Falseie to defer to after all.

Philly is a lost cause and not at all like the rest of PA.

If only we could annex it to NJ....
