Susan Collins rips Schumer, eyes new Senate clout with chamber narrowly split

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, could be among the most influential lawmakers when the next Congress convenes in January -- with Senate Republicans holding a 52-48 majority at best.

Collins’ position of prominence wasn’t certain. Polling before the election showed Democrats with a good chance of taking control of the Senate and polls showed her campaigning from behind against her Democratic opponent, Sara Gideon, Maine’s House speaker, who outspent her.

But Democrats’ hopes for a blue wave crashed and Collins handily won her race by 9 points, a larger win than even she expected.

“I was very gratified that the margin was so big -- that people were able to look at the individual,” she told Politico. “They were smart enough to reject the outright lies that Chuck Schumer and his PAC have hoisted.”

This is another reason why we need to win both Senate seats in Georgia...it will already be precarious enough having to rely on Murkowski and Romney as well.

Although, I don't mind that she is showing a bit more boldness by attacking Schumer as a liar by name and in those words...that's not really like her. If she's more reliable at times because she wants to stick it to Schumer that's fine with me.

I don’t think anything from FOX should be posted here. I personally will never respond to a post from the scumbags.

Polling is absolute garbage, they had her losing by 6 or even 10 and she wins by 9

What a farce polling was

Yup...that seat is hers as long as she wants it. Those polls were off by 15% to 20%. Suppression polls.

I’ve been a huge non-fan of Collins, and didn’t appreciate her “no” vote on ACB. But we need every seat we can get, so welcome back, Susan, I guess.

Collins has a track record of being one of our most worthless senators in a field full of worthless GOP do-nothings, so I don’t expect much.

My sweet Rufus, a 60+ pound standard also refuses to drink out of the toilet, unlike most dogs, but they say poodles are the smartest breed....

"Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, could be among the most influential lawmakers when the next Congress convenes in January"

So... Collins has a new custom-fitted set of kneepads?

I gave her some money, and doing so was against everything I’ve maintained for years, but it was to keep the Senate.

I also gave to other Senate and House races, but hers and a few House seats made me pause.

Could’ve fooled me, I thought this was from the Babylon Bee, regarding Collins’ comments about Schumer.

Exactly, probably even wasted resources there as well. The women running against her was a freakin loon

But the media had us all believing (and collins as well) that she would lose her seat if she voted for ACB

Susan Collins won by 9 in Maine. Those who pretend Biden ‘won’ fairly will hopefully be disabused of that notion. Just the fact that so many House seats flipped to the Right should alert the masses to the fraud. Even though every MSM story about the fraud uses the word ‘supposed’ or ‘baseless claims’.

Exactly.

The Enemedia were screaming about a “polarized” country, and now we’re supposed to believe there were 6+ million “ticket-splitters” in this election?

Agreed. It could be a DEM Senator from Maine otherwise, giving Schumer the leadership. There seems to be too many Freepers willing to go that route to make a point. Sad.
