What are the dynamics of the state board?
The board is composed of eight voting members who are elected to eight-year terms by the state at large. Elections to the board are held in every even-numbered year. Each party is allowed to nominate up to two candidates in each election, and voters are allowed to vote for two candidates. The two candidates with the most votes are elected to eight-year terms on the board. The board elects a president, secretary, and treasurer from among its members.[2]
The 2019-2020 members of the board are:[3]
President: Casandra Ulbrich (D)
Vice President: Pamela Pugh (D)
Treasurer: Tom McMillin (R)
Secretary: Michelle Fecteau (D)
Judith Pritchett (D)
Lupe Ramos-Montigny (D)
Nikki Snyder (R)
Tiffany Tilley (D)
What are the dynamics of the state board?
Two Republicans, two Democrats. I assume that if the state board deadlocks then the final decision is the Secretary of State's.
