Retail Sales Unexpectedly Crashed in December
Breitbart ^ | 01/15/2021 | John Carney

U.S. retail sales declined sharply in December, as holiday shoppers stayed away amid surging coronavirus infections and the aftermath of Joe Biden’s presidential victory.

Excluding car and gasoline sales, retail sales fell 2.1 percent in the final month of 2020, data from the Commerce Department showed Friday. The prior month’s figure was revised down to show a 1.8 percent decline from the initial estimate of 0.8 percent, which means December was a bigger decline from a lower starting point.

The sales were not that good this year,, as opposed to prior years.

Also, we all know how financially screwed we’ve been from COVID-19, and will be, under Biden.

A lot of would-be shoppers probably got what they wanted in last summer’s looting and rioting.

Retailers are pushing Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving. No surprise to see December sales crashing.

After the election, wise people aren’t spending money. They’re preparing for Biden/Harris or should i say Obama 2.0

We liquidated almost all of our 401K/IRA (turned 59 1/2 in November) and paid down all of our debt. Remaining money is only being used for essentials and if we feel like doing something for or with our grandkids/kids.

Now down to just house and vehicle to finish paying off, and we have removed ourselves from the economy as much as possible. Have 1 401K remaining that I have a loan against (We out in a pool 3 years ago), once that is paid off in the summer that one will be liquidated also.

GONE GALT.

You got that right.

By the end of august, or June at the least, we will begin to see what has been predicted for years.

NO matter what they do, its coming. Inflation-starting slowly at first, then rapidly increasing till its out of control.

It will be the Carter years on steroids. Hell, they’ll scream if interest rate got to 5%. My first business loan I paid over 7%. What are they going to do when it hits 9 to 12%?

The media is perpetually surprised by “unexpected” downturns under Leftists, and of “unexpected” upturns under Republican administrations.

Other than food and gas, the only items I have been purchasing for the last 2 months are shiny and make a very distinct (and beautiful) ping when struck. We are quickly moving toward a time when we’ll realize just how useless is much of the crap we have been groomed to covet.

No major purchases for us, no expensive vacations, no new cars, no new electronics for us.

We’ll be on a survival footing for the next four years.

We’ll keep up with charitable donations until they’re no longer tax-deductible.

We will not contribute one cent to a “growing” economy.

We’ll be on strike.

Well, apparently Amazon is still flying high. I called my post office two days ago, trying to find out why I hadn't received any updates on my tracking info, for a package I'd mailed 8 days before. I live in central NY State. I sent a package to my son who lives just north of Indianapolis. It's a 16 hour trip. Priority mail packages to him have been taking 2 weeks to arrive. A package I sent to him the week before took 10 days to get from here to the USPS distribution center in Rochester, NY. Rochester is 2 1/2 hours from me.

The postal clerk I spoke to told me that the reason for slow deliveries is because they are being swamped by packages from Amazon. I took that to mean that the postal service is processing Amazon packages before all others, even Priority packages. I told him that prioritizing Amazon packages over others wasn't acceptable, since it's my tax dollars that go to the postal service, and pay the salaries of the people who work there. He never attempted to correct my assumption that Amazon was getting priority treatment. I ended my call telling him that the postal service claims delivery delays are being caused because of COVID, and shortage of employees, but that it seems the post office has more than enough employees to deliver junk mail to you.
